Hello folks,

I'm already aware that they added Gregtech mods to make the game more challenging for many people. However, I'm a hosting that contains a hybrid of casual and hardcore players. It's kinda unfair for casual players to work too hard considering that they don't have much time to play Mindcrack on my server.

So, I came up with a good idea after some research. Although some of you might not like but I wanted to do what's the best for my people anyways. It's solar panel recipe. I don't mind with other recipes but an expensive recipe for tier 1 solar panel is kinda overkill. I wanted BOTH recipes to exist in the game. Is it even possible?

If it's not even possible, then how do you disable the recipe for Gregtech and get IC2 recipe back? I tried to edit the config file "Recipes.cfg" in Gregtech config folder and changed it to ExpensiveSolarRecipe=false and it seems didn't work well.

Thanks.

Thats the only way i reckon works, you did restart your server after changing the value in the config?

I can test it later tonight when i'm home from work on my testserver. What modpack are you using?

Which way that only works?

Also, I'm using Mindcrack mod. So, you're saying that it's not possible to use both recipes for solar panel?

Nessiroj you are wrong. My server has both recipes activated.

In order to use both you will need to go into the config of one of them and change the block ID of the solar panels to another number. 649 works fine and didn't conflict with anything else. Then you need to distribute that config to all of your players so they can run with both at once and match up with the server.

Personally I changed the Advanced to 649 and left compact at 650, but it's up to you really. Either way should work.

I see. That's pretty awesome, Chthon. I really appreciate it.

One more question, which config file are you speaking of? Also, it is it possible to build both solar panels without distributing config files to other players? That's seem a bit too much work. For example, would it appears in the crafting table even though without the config files from the players while my server has the config file of both recipes?

Shrug, I just wanted to keep it simple.

So, Chthon, where did you find the basic solar panel information in the config recipe? I've looked in recipes, ic2, advancedsolar config files. No luck.

The config is in the <server>/config/AdvancedSolarPanel.cfg file.

First section is:
Code:
block {
   I:blockID=650
}
Change the 650 to 649 and you're good to go.

However unless you distribute this file to all of your clients, their system will either crash (because of duplicate IDs on their end) or not be able to connect because of ID Mismatches. I've been distributing this to all of my clients on my server as well since I discovered it.

But I only want to get original recipe for basic solar panel, not the advanced one. I don't mind having expensive recipes for tier 2 and higher.

I don't see an option to enable the recipes individually. Sorry. It's all or nothing.

Anyways, it's not that hard to do the hard solar panel recipe. Just gotta make carbon fiber mesh really as the hardest part. Just grind carbon, compress the dust, combine the strands into fibers, and then compress that.
