I had my solar-powered engines running my massive quarry and fell asleep last night before shutting down the server.

The cobblestone overflowed the gold chest I had it piped to and started spilling on the ground.

The server crashed and won't let me log in.

I tried copying the world over to use single player, and it crashes also.

I copied it to my vanilla installation and MCedited away all the entities in a 2x2 square and I was able to get back into the game. Unfortunately that section is in the same chunk as all my "good stuff" chests. MCedit saves deletes all those chests, turns my coke ovens to some wierd pixel texture block, all my pipes become grass..

Is there a better way to clear out all those entities?

Thansk!

Speaking from tekkit server experience here... I've never copied the world files over to a vanilla installation before attempting a MCEdit fix, and I've never seen any kind of corruption arise from MCEdit before. Can't you just edit the files where they are already? Be sure not to edit anything else in there, just remove offending entities and save and exit. Also, make a backup first.

I thought maybe a program like NBT explorer might help. I found out the chest coordinates as 312,25 and calculated (guessed) region 0,0 - chunk 20,1. I did find 2 entity items, block ID 4 (cobblestone). I deleted them, but no effect on the game. I'm expecting to see dozens if not hundreds of entity items.

Am I off on my region/chunk math?

I think its 19,1 since 312/16 is 19.5 which would be in the middle of the 19th chunk

Yes, it was. That's what I get for counting in my head lol.

Over 15000 entities deleted and my world recovered :D

No problem. I spotted it today and remembered this thread. Lets hope it saves some people some time in future.
