I hate whining. Really, I do. I think it's pathetic to whine and it's unproductive, but I need to vent and you guys are the only ones that'll listen to me without me having to explain what every little piece of "jargon" means. So here goes.

I don't like Origin. I really really don't. I don't think much of EA in general. I think they encompass everything that's wrong with the industry today and everytime I buy into something that has the Ea brand I feel as though I'm kicking a decent game developer in the nuts. However, with the Origin Humble Bundle that came out, I was stunned. Awesome-ass titles for less than $5 including Sims 3, Dead Space 3, Mirror's Edge, Populous... The best part of it was EA apparently was getting a cent for it. It was all going to charity (and a portion to HB).

Hell yeah, I bought that shit. I jumped on that like a kangaroo on crack.

But then I realize just what I got myself into...

I try to redeem the code for The Sims 3 and Origin's redeemer flat-out refuses to work. To add insult to injury, it would make you wait for about 10 minutes while it "loads" then present itself with this.

429LX

So I think, alright, I'll use the site redeemer, which seems to work fine. I put in the 16 digit code I was given by Humble Bundle and it registers the game on my Origin Account.

And then I try to download it.

Now I don't know if I'm the only one with this issue. According to others that bought in to this bundle, they've been having similar issues, however when you download a game on origin it starts downloading...

Then freezes.

Then you have to restart Origin or it'll tell you Origin's come across a fatal error that needs it to reload. Consequently, this removes what download progress you've made since you resumed a download.

So I spend about two days watching this game painstakingly attempt to download until finally, it finishes. And I think hallelujah. Now I can finally play the damn thing.

Imagine that, playing games.

But then the real insult kicks in. Remember I redeemed a 16 digit code on the site? Well apparently I wasn't meant to do that, I was meant to use Origin, because now the installation's asking for a 20 digit code and the 16 digit code's useless. Apparently had I used the Origin redeemer as opposed to the site, I'd have been given the 20 digit code in the Game Details.

F*ck. My. Life.

So I ragefit. I go full blown nuclear. I wait for 2 hours to clutch at the throat of an EA advisor who promptly generates new Sims 3 Codes for me that work with the installation. Awesome! Perpetual Nagging works! So I install it and I think awesome! Now I can finally play this!

... Oh wait, there's DLC too?!

UUUUUUUGHGHGUGHGGUGHHGUUGGGHGHH. I've never been so freaking annoyed at such an awesome deal.

And it turns out I need new codes for them too! SUPER.

Wash, rinse and repeat later I finally get the codes for the dlc, painstakingly downloaded them and installed them.

The moral of the story?
Never. EVER. Purchase items for Origin. [unless it's for charity]

Fun fact. I bought Crysis 2 and installed it without any problems. After about a month of not playing it, it automatically uninstalled and asked me for a code to redeem it (which I haven't been given)

Better get on the sims 3 before it's uninstalled.

Funfact. I was given a code to SimCity by a friend which installed without a problem too. Origin just seems to be more of a d-bag than usual these days.

I use Steam too! I use it a HELL of a lot more than Origin, but EA insists on keeping 90% of their games in their own broken software so I'm forced to use it!

you aren't "forced" to use it, just do what I do, and don't buy EA games anymore :)...plenty of games on steam to occupy my time and money (when I'm not playing minecraft that is)[DOUBLEPOST=1377857721][/DOUBLEPOST]I'm with you on the hate...

Ah the clear sign of someone who didn't read the opening post.
you aren't "forced" to use it,
Y'know, as soon as that went up, I thought to myself "Someone's gonna take that forced word literally, maybe I shoul- Actually nah, people aren't that pedantic, not on here."

WELP.

No, I know EA isn't physically taking my face, pressing it into the monitor and holding me at gunpoint while I play their games and use their shitty-ass software. I'm aware of that, but stop being pedantic, I mean it in the sense of I bought I game I want to play and I'm forced to go through Hell to play it. Don't be so childish in saying I should do something else when what I want to do is enjoy a purchase.

WHICH BY THE WAY:
and don't buy EA games anymore :)
I don't, if you had actually read the opening post, I've never once mentioned I bought a game through EA's channels. I bought the Humble Bundle through which not a single penny went to EA but to charity and included Dead Space 3, Sims 3, Mirror's Edge, Burnout, Populous and more.

Fuck yes I'm gonna buy all them for 5 freakin' dollars.

As someone who enjoys playing games, you shouldn't let broken software get the better of you and I didn't let it. I fought tooth and nail and won.
So in the words of the great Wrex; "Don't piss in my ear and tell me it's raining."
I'm with you on the hate...
Fantastic.

Did you ever use the precursor to Origin? I think it was called something generic like EA Store Desktop Software, unbelievably that was actually worse. Origin is actually leaps and bounds ahead of that old version, but still shit.

I actually own a few EA games on the PS3, but now avoid buying them on the PC like the plague, entirely because of Origin.

I read every single word of your opening post, as I do with every thread I read (except for 412 page game threads of course...)

Who's being pedantic?...Yes, I realize as well they didn't physically force you by gunpoint...

I've never once mentioned I bought a game through EA's channels. I bought the Humble Bundle through which not a single penny went to EA but to charity and included Dead Space 3, Sims 3, Mirror's Edge, Burnout, Populous and more.

You said you bought the Origin Humble Bundle...so yeah, you didn't say you bought it through EA's channels...however, you said you bought the ORIGIN Humble Bundle...which is an EA product, so what else am I supposed to assume other that you bought it through EA channels?...

You Sir should really take a chill pill, no reason to go off on someone who is simply pointing out something they thought was good advice after assuming (since you weren't detailed on where you got it from) you purchased something from EA knowing you would have to use Origin...

Don't be so childish in saying I should do something else when what I want to do is enjoy a purchase.

I fail to find the child like behavior in suggesting a course of action that would solve the issue you are complaining about, especially when you already knew you didn't like EA...and knew you were buying EA games.

But alas, I'll just chalk it up to you waking up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, and try to avoid offering valid suggestions in the future.

Fun fact. I generally have all the issues you stated with steam and have had no issues with Origin. Weird how people have different experiences with different things.

Always fun watching people hate a company like EA and claim it's run by Satan but still use their products....

I defend my point, therefore I need to chill? This is is why I was apprehensive to even post this topic in the first place. People can't handle arguments.
My point's valid. You just invalidated yours with that stupid chill pill crack.

I'm done. Talk among yourselves and do your damn homework next time you post, maybe then your assumptions won't backfire.[DOUBLEPOST=1377864199][/DOUBLEPOST]

Since I got Steam I've never had issue with it. Ever.
Sure, in the beginning they had their share of issues but that's rarely the case now and you know what? Different experiences or not I don't compare Origin to Steam because I've never seen so many problems that have existed and left untouched for what is currently 2-3 years straight.

Least Valve have the common courtesy to work on their software.

In order for you to defend your point, someone would have had to take a crack at it, which is not what I did...this is just you overreacting...so yes, you do need to chill. But along with you, I'm done now as well ;)

I also use steam for Feed the Beast :p (A pain to make it work :/), anyways I agree I hate playing broken EA games currently I'm playing Mirror's Edge and had a total of:

1). One crash
2). 10 stuck loading screens
3). Around 30 ten minute elevators (I hate this one -.-)

I use Steam too! I use it a HELL of a lot more than Origin, but EA insists on keeping 90% of their games in their own broken software so I'm forced to use it!

I don't think we'll ever know.
He probably got fired for the whole charity thing alone.

Myeah, they probably fired that asinine moron for incompetence. And not just fired, but beaten up, too. And pretty badly. In fact, I think he died from his injuries. And then he was ground up into a fine pink powder.

And then they salted the ground they killed and ground him on and erased all knowledge he ever existed.
A fitting end for such a blasphemer to our corporate lords and masters.
