Modular Powersuits not being included in new packs is kind of a new lease of life.

Up to and including 1.6.4 packs, MPS was my goto mod for armour. It just did everything I could possibly want from a suit.

It not being in Infinity has made me branch out and look into alternatives from other mods.

It also just kinda happened that my gear selection is now mostly weighted towards magic mods, most of which come with their own fun mechanics and infrastructure I have to work through to get the stuff i'm after.

As an example I had to go all the way through Blood Magic, including: alchemy, demon summoning and the binding ritual, in addition to a Tier-5 altar and well of suffering to set up my Bound Armour and upgrade it.

I had to research many individual bits all the way up to the infusion altar and beyond in Thaumcraft to get my runic shielding (just for excessiveness, natch)

I had to set up my botania infrastructure to get my anti-wither charm (for to manually killing of Withers on occasion)

And as per the other thread, I'm now working up to death protection poppets in witchery, just to add some emergency invincibility.

Oh and one can't overlook the activation ritual for the division sigil to make the unstable ingots for my angel wings (I stopped using my resonant jetpack once I got my bound armour).

It's so much more of a faff to get all the abilities, but ultimately rewarding to get everything together :D

Idk, I did all that and wasn't impressed by the magic stuff. It is awesome, but my MPS Suit charges my tinker's construct OP, custom weapon and axe as well as the Wireless Access Terminal. Also, I can Creative fly and breath underwater and all the stuff that magic armor offers (Blood Magic/Thaumcraft ones) from Advanced Genetics, so I don't need it. Advanced Genetics is, however, EXTREMELY OP, but I did get into it very, VERY late game.

The way they changed the mod makes It pretty much useless for me
But all that play through you mentioned explains why they changed It to Balance It a Bit but that overheating thing breaks the mod
