Ok so basicly i just dont understand how the turbine gives more power than just a normal passively cooled reactor i've been messing about with the turbine for about 6 -7 hours now and i just dont really understand it, i cant even really get the stupid rpms to get to the 900 point.

But i have been watching a good amount of videos on it and what i was thinking is that the turbine only makes a little bit more RF, but to deal with all the water you need, takes a lot of power anyway, unless you want a sloppy, ugly looking thing with pipes all over the place. (im using extra cells AE addon to manage the water btw) and the AE system costs mucho power to manage the water, so would someone be willing to show me how the turbine works either in a video or join me on my server and show me face to face, that would be very cool but i'd be happy just to understand it really

I'm guessing that your turbine is too big for your reactor or that your reactor is too small for your turbine if you can't spin it past 900 rpm. Try up scaling. For water transport use tesseracts if you don't want to use any power.

PS - I'm no expert

the problem im having is that i cant get enough steam into the turbin my reactor has tons of steam at least i think thats the problem im having right now lmao im kind getting more and more lost i feel like lol

ok now it has tons of steam the turbine but the rpm is just not going any higher is stuck at 350[DOUBLEPOST=1399571641][/DOUBLEPOST]got it to 352 XD... lol

what are you using to transfer the steam to the turbine, and in relation...the water into the reactor?

screenshots and a description of your setup will help the non-psychics among us...

ok heres what im confused with do i try and match the reactors mB/t with the turbines flow rate

Or do i follow the formula for the block vaule x8 than divided it by 100 for something else[DOUBLEPOST=1399572271][/DOUBLEPOST]

if you need a better pic of anything let me know their kind of rushed but its pretty much what im working with, im using ender io to getting the water and extra cells from AE to but it into the reactor[DOUBLEPOST=1399572998][/DOUBLEPOST]i think the problem is that i need more blades i just added 3 more and got another like 100 or so rpms[DOUBLEPOST=1399573029][/DOUBLEPOST]https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...TUxOUGxMRlpERWtPMmtGT213bmc&usp=sharing#gid=0

this is the website im using idk if its helping me really though lol

OMG im out of the dark blue and into the light blue! lol only one bar though, i dont know what that site was talking about but i think i just needed more blades cause it said for a 4 row coil to only use 4 blades..

well the more coils the more power right?

thats why i dont really get that sheet cause it says like 20 blades for 1 coil 16 for 2 and idk from what im seeing its like the opposite what i ended up doing to get it the 4 coils to work is adding a total of 22 blades and if i kept fking with it i could prob get it to 1800.

actually ima see if i add more blades if it will go to 1800.

and thank you for the link that looks awesome, the one i had was barely finished but this one has everything lol XD

more coils means more power, but you need more blades to harness the additional steam it requires to turn the blades. if you've ever ridden a bicycle with a dynamo you can feel the drag of generating the electricity; same principle, just scaled up based on how many of these "dynamos" you have attached to your rotor shaft.

as for complexity, meh. RF is about as complex as your average lego set. It takes a few minutes to figure out the rules, and after that you hardly have to think about it.

omg now that i got this so what working i can see how much better the turbine is than the passive though i have the 3 fuel robs at 100% 100% and 40% and the turbine is making basicly 5k rf/t, and i made the same size passive reactor with the same fuel rods settings and its only making like not even 1.5k, well whats ya call it at 1800 its not that big a difference right? or maybe it would be with 4 coils?[DOUBLEPOST=1399574774][/DOUBLEPOST]

yea lol i was being lazy really and just following the sheet but once i just started doing it on my own it didnt really take to long to figure out i just needed more blades, and nice analogy btw XP

it depends on your steam output, materials available, etc.

are you doing this in creative just for fun? or trying to implement a design into a SSP/SMP world?

Not an expert either, but here would be my approach.

1. You know how much steam your reactor generates and want to build a turbine for it.
Example: 1.200 Steam available
- Number of Enderium blocks for 1800rpm = 1.200 / 54 = 22 blocks -> 3 coils, one of the coils is built with only 6 blocks instead of the normal 8.
- Number of rotor blades = 1.200 / 25 = 48 -> 6 rotors with 8 blades each
The resulting turbine dimensions would be 7x7x11 and it would generate around 1.200 * 11.8 = 14.000 - 14.500 RF.
If you something cheaper for the coils, then it needs more coils to get down to 1.800 rpm and the turbine will still generate less power. (Fluxed Electrum: 30 coil blocks and 10.5-11k RF)

2. You know how much energy you need and want to build a turbine for it
Example: 20.000 RF needed
- Required Steam: 20.000 / 11.8 = 1.700 steam
- Required Enderium Blocks: 1.700 / 54 = 32 blocks
- Required Rotors: 1700 / 25 = 68 blades = 8 rotors with 8 blades and 1 rotor with 4 blades (or simply do 9 full rotors with 72 blades)
The resulting turbine would be 7x7x15.

Then build a reactor to produce the steam. It looks like you get around 280 steam (active) or 500 RF (passive) from a fuel block, so you will need 6 blocks. Maybe a 5x4x7 with 3 rods in a row, 2 blocks high? Or simply build a 7x7 reactor and limit the rod settings. If necessary, then you could run aa second turbine from this reactor later.

(The "magic numbers" for the efficiencies are from Saice's Big Reactors Turbine tests.)

what you failed to realize when reading the spreadsheet you linked is that red numbers are bad ;). And did you look at the second tab at all?

The numbers are not "bad", it would just require more than 2.000 steam for these setups. And that is above the maximum.
