I need some omtimization

So, everytime I try to run a modpack it lags like crazy and is unplayable for me. I was wondering how I can optimize my gameplay.
Prossecer: Intel Celeron
RAM: 4 gigs, 3.89 available
Java version: 1.7.0_75
Current memory used for FTB: 3.75 gigs

Help would be appreciated!

Your not giving your os enough ram to run smoothly try leaving at least a gig for os then what's left for minecraft

Yeah. Allocating memory to the game means you reserve it for the game. This means that nothing else can use it. This results in everything else on your computer is forced to use your harddrive as RAM which is hopefully terribly horribly slow in comparison(hence terrible lag).
With only 4GB of RAM total you probably only want to max allocate something like 2GB to the game(JAVA usually goes over what you allocate, Windows and other random processes tends to use over 1GB as well).
