So, Me and my brother like FTB. We were both playing LAN together on the direwolf20 modpack. We both had macintosh Computers. Now, I got a new laptop Windows 8. Now, when he tries to join my world, it will say "Connecting to server..." for like an hour. If I try to join his, it wont show up in multiplayer. We tried starting a server and hamachi. They were too laggy. When we did LAN before it was fine. Now, it is messed up and wont work. We really want to play. Anybody help us?

First, do this to rule out ANYTHING that could be wrong with your setup:
Please follow these steps exactly: http://desk.feed-the-beast.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/9/0/basic-troubleshooting
This is to rule out any issues with your setup.

If you continue to have trouble, please post your complete client-side (launcher) console log in debug-mode to pastebin.com and link your paste URL here.
To find your logs and prevent them from expiring: http://desk.feed-the-beast.com/inde...29/1/what-log-do-you-need-where-can-i-find-it

Windows 8 ...

But all seriousness aside.

I'd first look for firewall settings to see if windows 8 is keeping him out.
Then I'd verify what the IP address is for the windows 8 machine and have the friend try to direct connect on that address. So long as both of you are on the same router, shouldn't be an issue.

Those two things seem like the most likely culprets.

I did everything that it said. I put the launcher.jar into a folder on the desktop. When I go into the Options on the launcher, it does not show it is on the desktop. I also have a question witht some other things. Do I JUST PUT THE FTB+LAUNCHER.JAR into the folder? And It didnt work when I tried LAN again. I dont know if it is because of the location of the folder or what. Help would be appreciated.

It isn't working because you aren't doing it right.

Start your launcher
Click the options tab
Click on the "..." button next to the Install Folder area
Find the folder you put on your desktop. It should look like this "C:\Users\You\Desktop\FTB"
Click Open.

Go to the Modpacks tab.
Select the modpack you want
Click launch.
