I have what looks like a vortex/black hole ?

Im playing infinity, i was a few days into the game and decided to go on a trek to find some chests, all of a sudden i was suck up into this kind of vortex/black hole and ended up getting killed, the really annoying thing is i lost all my gear as there's no grave there, i exited and logged back in but it crashed 3 times, i managed to get back in and start over,

So im asking is this vortex/black hole normal in the game or is it a bug ?

Probably a thuamcraft hungry node. The are completely normal, but beware if you get sucked into one you better hope you have some sort of flight/fall protection

I was over the ocean, but it was constantly damaging me, yea i put a way point there saying black hole as its close to my base,

If it wasn't over an ocean it would have been apparent by the blocks missing around it since it sucks up items and blocks. I recommend getting the goggles of revealing (i think that's the name) and just avoiding all the nodes in the world

OK thanks, makes perfect sense, all i could see was some water droplets being suck up when i went back to investigate my grave, i will look at them, but if i remember right they take up a armor slot ? ive already lost one due to my jet pack so kinda dont want to loose another one

You can make the sanguine helm (or helmet or some such) wich acts as a normal helmet but with the goggles of revealing's abilities
