New mobs from Thaumcraft 4. They will steal your valuables when mining but you can trade with them for shards, knowledge fragments, and mana beans.

Be careful what you drop, this bugger stole my enderpouch and ran away

You can eat them and gain research points. You supposedly can grow them on trees like cocoa beans, but I've been unsuccessful with that.

They've got the same issue blue slimes had, in any biome/area where mobs don't normally spawn it fills up with them because they're the only mob that can spawn there. Check out direwolf20's vid today where he was in the Promised Land, they're everywhere. I don't think he noticed they were stealing some of his amethyst.

There were plenty of Ars2 mobs spawning all of the TF. These guys were all over the place as well. I didn't go underground to check on the regular TF mob spawning. Also the promised land doesn't have hostile mob spawning does it?

Are these guys actually called Pechs? Because Pech means bad luck in german, and seeing as they steal your stuff, it kind of makes sense...
Someone ask azanor if this is intentional!

if you kill them there's a small chance they might drop some of the items they picked up.
trying to catch these buggers actually becomes quite easy if you remember they literally pick up anything they see

I first spend 20 minutes chasing it in the hope it'll fall in the pit I made. didn't happen. but when I threw a piece of dirt in the hole he immediatly jumped in :p

It can also refer to tar or pitch, or the color black, which may be more along the lines of what he intended. After all these kobold guys are a subterranean race.
