Hungry node?

How can I bottle a hungry node? I found one in a mystcraft age on the server I play and I can't even stay still in, I think, 7 blocks radius from it. Aside of eating the glass it's shaking me in every direction and can't really place the glass any way, not even in a bat form (with creative flight). I want it because it have a huge amount of aspects..

it's possible, but require alot of quick work and luck.
do note that the dartwrench is able to pick up nodes, including hungry nodes, though dartcraft is not installed on any of the packs

nope, you either try it time after time to capture it the way you capture other nodes, or you're out of luck...

You can destroy any node by mining it (other tools might work as well)

You'll never be able to be safe near it but of that's what you want, it's your game. You'll just have to keep trying to place glass blocks. It's not exactly designed to be a friendly node.

It's most useful to destroy it with a wand focus of excavation and use the essence for other things. The only thing I can think to use a hungry node for would be a horrible prank or downright griefing

Apparently a hungry node won't eat obsidian so you can build a jar shape in obsidian, quickly cap it with slabs and equal trade to glass others on here have said this works.

I want it because it's an awesome node imo not for pranks or griefing. I may build a room only for it.
It will work to put a wand recharge thing close to it, or will get eaten?

Etho just recently moved one into his base on the crack pack server and it seems to consume any block within a 20 block radius. If you coat it in obsidian you'll prevent it from eating things, but it will still move entities around it.

It should be theoretically possible to put down a wand recharger and a slightly expanded obsidian box that you let specific items through in order to provide the power to the wand. This way a single node could recharge an unlimited number of wands of any size.

Course you'd either have to feed items in by hand, or through trickery.

I bet you could use golems to take stuff from a chest and feed it.

Golems are annoying to make. You need Motus and Spiritus, plus the actual type of golem. So you end up needing:

• An automatic crucible
• Soul Sand
• Trapdoors

Unless you feel like making a new golem manually every time.

Found that a very safe way of destroying these hungry nodes from a distance without risking death(tried the excavation focu, but never managed to get it to work. Maybe too much of a chicken and was too far away), is to use a Mining Turtle, facing the node, and use the inbuilt Tunnel program to "mine" it out(just write "Tunnel 16" for example). Wont drop its essences though...
