Hey guys.
What I am going to do is start doing how to guides for whatever modpacks you suggest, on how to get the best of of the packs, and I will do a step by step guide on which mods to use and when to either get to the best equipment fast, have fun while doing it, or just to do what is most complicated resource heavy but looks amazing, as possible. I will not be saying crafting recipes, or what you need to use any machines, other than how to power them to be the most efficient.

All methods:
You will need to set up a swanky little area to call home, I would suggest having a house about 20x20 with room to expand, just to make sure that you have an area that is not going to get cluttered to quickly. Expansion will be needed, so try to avoid living on small islands, unless you don't mind adding a gigantic basement.
Now you have a home base set a way point at this area, as you will now need to go out hunting for materials, and you may need to go mining for quite some time.
Now set off into the mines with about 20 wood logs. You will need these, trust me. Make torches as you go along if you run out, and try to get as much coal, bauxite, copper, iron, tin, gold, ferrous ore, diamonds and string as possible while down there. (Also, if you can get obsidian, then you are set :) )
- The string is so that you can make canvas bags should you need extra storage space.
Once you have at lease a stack of copper, tin, coal, bauxite and iron. Half a stack of of gold. As many diamonds and ferrous ore as you could get your hands on, then you can proceed to leave when you wish. (DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT DIAMONDS!)

Speed:
This method is for speed of getting to server authority. The approximate time to server domination: 24-50 hours of play time, as soon as you have finished the "all methods".
Ok, so you arrive home with your haul, now there are so many mods to start on, but which ones are best to start with.
Well your best friend (as a mod) is Thermal Expansion. Everyone knows that the pulverizer is the best machine to start with... so make 2. And have one being powered on 5 sides by redstone engines, this will be the one you use if you need a spare for pulverizing anything else whilst you are pulverizing your main items in the other. Your other pulverizer should be powered by stirling engines, which (if you have some) you should aim to power on coal coke, seeing as it lasts a LONG time, usually longer than you need, unless you are trying to pulverize stacks at a time, constantly.

Now you have your pulverizers set up, you can double your ore with ease, so use them as you need them while following these next steps:
There are 2 ways to split off here, you can pursue forestry for a bit, so that you get good fuel sources. Or you can hit the industrial revolution, get to the point ASAP, but maybe not as environmentally friendly.

Forestry:
When using the forestry method skip to the # in the industrial method after finishing these steps.
Start out my making: A thermionic fabricator and a carpenter, and power these with 2 stirling engines each. Make yourself the necessary components for a Peat Bog and Turbary.
Once you have these set up, use stirling engines to power the peat bog, and turbary until you have about 20 peat. Now make yourself 4 Peat-Fired Engines. Use 1 engine on the turbary, 1 on the peat bog, 1 on your pulverizer (so that you don't need to use stirling engines) and then the final one can either be used on your forestry machines, or saved for later (only use it on the forestry machines if you intend on making multiple peat farms)

Industrial:
Now if you have a good pool of lave close to your house, or in a mine close by, set yourself up a Geothermal Generator, a pump over the lava, and pump the lave into the generator with waterproof pipes.
If you aren't lucky enough to have lava, make yourself a Generator and just use that. Now hook up a BatBox to the generator with wires, use glass fibre cable ONLY IF you have more than 15 diamonds. (Try to keep hold of at least 11 diamonds)
Now you can start storing power in the BatBox(es) and start making yourself a compressor, and an electrical furnace too, or you could make an Induction Smelter, and power it with an electrical engine #(or use Peat-Fired engines to power it if you used forestry)
With the equipment and materials you have now, you should be able to make yourself some standard machine casings, you will need 34 for what you are about to make, so make sure you get enough iron ready :p
Now, while the iron is pulverizing/being cooked into refined iron, make yourself a rolling machine and power it with any engines (redstone will do if you don't mind the wait) and make 6 cupronickel heating coils (2 sets, it makes 3 per craft).
Now make yourself an industrial blast furnace, and hook it up to an MFE (you can also use 4 batboxes if you wish to not use up your materials on an MFE, but it is not recommended)
You will also need to make an industrial electrolyzer. Once you have this, hook it up to your MFE, and use it to get titanium (bauxite dust), you will need to get 8 tiny piles of titanium dust, then with that make the tiny piles of titanium dust into into titanium dust and place this in the industrial blast furnace.
While that is cooking, make yourself a train workbench, and make 8 coal dust in it
OOO
OXX
OXX Where X means coal, and O means empty.
Then surround a piece of gravel or obsidian in the train workbench with this coal dust (coal dust from a macerator or pulverizer will not work.
DDD
OGO
OOO Where D is iron ingot, G is Graphite and O is empty, make yourself steel dust in the train workbench.
Now cook up the steel dust, and make yourself a mining drill, upgrade it to a diamond drill. Then make yourself a quarry, and get that mining.
Now take a rest, you have probably been playing too long if you have done this all in one go.
Rinse and repeat with the quarry until you have about 30+ diamonds.

Now you may have been luck with the quarry and got some iridium ore. If you put it in the pulverizer and laugh while those who didn't get any iridium, you are going to have to go to the end, and collect some sheldonite ore, and place that in the pulverizer.

Next machine to make is an implosion compressor, and some reinforced casing to go underneath it, with a few more standard casing. You will need to make some iridium alloy in your rolling machine, and while that is being made get some silicon plates by making silicon cells in your blast furnace. Make about 20 silicon plates (if possible) and proceed to make them into solar panels.
Now updgrade all your solar panels as soon as you make them, as advanced solars are not hard to make, and they are much better. With your iridium alloy, you can make them into iridium plates in your implosion compressor, and keep hold of that as you will need it soon.
Hook them up to an MFSU, and only have 2 advanced solars power all your current machines along with a recycler or 2 (which you will now need to make)
Then make a matter fabricator, and hook that up to the MFSU, and get making UU matter. As soon as you have enough UU matter, start upgrading your solar panels more, until they are all upgraded.
Once again, take a rest if you haven't already. You are getting close now.

You are now at a point where you are able to start doing as you wish machine wise, you will still need a lot of materials to make some of the GregTech machines, but you are all set up in terms of IndustrialCraft to be classed as a demigod, you will have people asking to use your stuff, and you will feel powerful ;)
But from here on, you will have spent no more than 50 hours if you rushed to do all the stuff that has been described, and you are in a position where you can make the fancy stuff most people don't have.

Fun:
Will be here soon

Resource heavy, and overly complicated:
Will be here soon

Most people say that :p
But once you learn the recipes, and get good at caving. You can (if you are a luck [insert word here]) do all this in less than 24 hours... 24 hours game time is the quickest I have done this in... but using forestry (which I recommend) does add an extra hour onto the speed method, although it is better in the long run :)

Yeah, I like to take it slow... but if I am starting on a server that is either VERY new, or VERY old, I like to speed through so I am either able to offer advanced machines such as Tier 3 Industrial Blast Furnaces, and other machines that people may need (when on a new server) or just to catch up and be able to take on the rest of the server with things like Vajra's on old servers ;)

I weep for Those who pulverize their ferrous And sheldonite. Seriously though, ind. Grinder + mercury, please, you'll thank me Later :)

nope. You want to pulverize your sheldonite seeing as you have a chance of getting iridium ore, which you don't in the grinder :p
But ferrous ore, I can agree on :)
