Now the flattest part of the any game is on top of the nether. That makes for great building space in a non-super flat world. The only problem is that EU is hard to come bye up there. Can you guys help me out?
I know that solar and wind do not work up there and water mills obviously don't work either. I am using gregtech so include those ways too. Also, you can't even grow trees up there so bye bye biomass/ethanol.
Also I am looking for power generation that doesn't require tesseracts because I am not that far into the game yet. So that kills oil and lava as well.. Any ideas are appreciated and renewable sources are better. Thanks

If you use an Aqueous Accumulator in another dimension with a Liquid Tesseract/Ender Tank and Chunk Loader, or just an Aqueous Accumulator with the UUM recipe for Water Source Blocks, yes, they actually can. ... *Pauses* ... Wait. You're probably not far enough for that.

Hmm. Trees, perhaps Dragon Egg Siphon? But then you'll have weird stuffage to deal with.

Any trees including natura if you have it, wood to TE furnace to make charcoal, thats auto ejected to gens on each side, you can fit 3 gens on a furnace & if you have the wood the furnace will keep up & buffer, so will never spill, not the most powerful build but can all be automated if you use a forestry/SC/MFR(then vanilla trees) farm, later on if you like you could send the charcoal to a hp boiler if you have a xycraft & its water block thing (note I have never tested that but its should work).

If you've got GregTech, why not just make two IDSU's?
Or, use Power Converters to convert EU to MJ, then route it through an Energy Tesseract?

And in both cases, use them to take power from the Overworld, chunkload it, and send it to the Nether.

Ah. That kills that off then. Sorry I didn't notice that.
I don't think you're right to dismiss Lava so readily though. You might not be able to use Tesseracts, but you can use pipes (or maybe liquiducts, but they're more expensive). Granted you'll have to run a lot of them to get from the lava below up to the top, but if you power the pump off four Redstone Engines, it'll at least get you started. That'll open up Geothermal and Thermal generators.
As mentioned, Trees grow fine, so charcoal is an option - that gives you a fuel source for normal Generators.
If you've got some uranium from the overworld (or have Nether Ores and find some Nether Uranium) you can do nuclear power.

You can't run a pipe through flat bedrock.

I kinda assumed that you'd got on top of the Nether by some sensible means and thus still had access, but oh well...
What about Ender Tanks? They don't cost as much as Tesseracts.

You know, a nether challenge would be really fun if you had Natura. Spawn in a bedrock room with a chest of only overworld items and a portal... Edit: and nether Ores!
