How to milk cows in 1.6.2?

But how to automate this?
In 1.4.7 you could use RedPower2, in 1.5.2 we have MFR. But both mods are not available (yet) for 1.6.2. What other setup is possible, to fill a Railcraft tank with milk and use it for supplying the Force Engines?

I'm not aware of any other mods that will allow this. Thaumic tinkerer has a block similar to the RP2 deployer, but of course, no 1.6.2 yet for that either.

Now to get the milk from the bucket into a pipe without Liquid Transposer. But that shouldn't be a problem - worst case ... I'll use Computercraft.

You don't need a pipe with computer craft. Just use a turtle relay and place the buckets right in the tank.

Yep, that's what I meant with using Computercraft.
You can probably make a pretty compact and elegant build with it. Fill the bucket from the cow, have a small tank (BC or Ender Tank) right beside or beneath the turtle and drop the bucket in there. Then pump the milk into the final, large Railcraft tank.

Gotta play around with some options for that.

Plugins for forestry used to have an item that sucked loads of milk from cows fast.
Not sure if its in the current version, though.

I think you meant dispenser, not deployer. Also I doubt that dispenser can milk cows, it isn't as general as deployer (it makes specific action for an item instead of doing right click action). There is nothing on minecraftwiki about it, so I won't bother to check. Dispensers however work for filling water and lava buckets since 1.3.

I dunno if it has changed, but I have found that sending buckets of milk back and forth to where fuel is needed is way faster than liquid pipes and does not require extra pipe network.

Steve's carts has also gained the ability to milk cows as of MC 1.5.2. It is a component you can add called the milker. Milker+tanks+solar engine and liquid cargo manager will do the trick if you want to do a cart setup.
