I have been trying to have a stable server for the past month or
so. The first time I set my server up I got major world leaks
and eventually I had to wipe it all clean and start over. I then
disabled the 3 wireless redstone mods and twilight forest
because I found that they were large causes of world leak. I
did not disable mystcraft but did not generate any mystcraft
worlds. The world leaks stopped, but today when I logged in
there were chunk resets everywhere. Is there a idiot's guide to
stable server's somewhere? Any help would be apreciated.
Thanks

Ps
I have been using direwolf20

Are you using MCPC+?

We found xycraft was the main source of our instability, since we removed it the server has been pretty solid and stopped resetting chunks/crashing, however we use the MindCrack modpack so the issues might not be related.

I guess your not using it if you don't know what it is. Its a .jar file that replaces FTB's jar and allows the use of bukkit plugins on servers.

I have heard that putting a chunk loader (like the world anchor for example) in each world will stop the memory leaking. Your best bet is to wait until someone who has more experience with Direwolfs modpack responds tho.

I've been looking around for mods that tend to cause chunk reset and chicken chunks seems to be a common culprit. But it is also used to stop the world leaks with its chunk loader. Catch 20/20 anyone? Does anyone know of any other mods that tend to cause chunk resets? And would the world anchor be able to replace the chunk loader in stopping world leaks?

A world anchor can be used instead of the chunk loaders from chickenchunks, they essentially do the same thing. The memory leak you're experiencing is a bug where worlds do not unload properly, by having a world anchor/chunk loader in each of your worlds it prevents the worlds ever unloading which in-turn prevents the leak as far as i'm aware.

Xycraft also does not like chickenchunks and visa versa, they both do something with chunk loading in general which servers do not like, we also had issues with chunks resetting when we had Xycraft (plus lots of crashes but these were related to MCPC+) if the chunk resets were also related to MCPC+ I'm unsure, but I do know the chunk resets stopped completely when we removed it.

The chances are tho that the final modpack update before the 1.5.x updates will fix this issue.

Awesome. Im gunna wait until for the ultimate pack comes out with the 1.5.x and I'll see how things handle then. Thank you for the help.
