So I have two new gaming friends who both owns Minecraft but never gotten into it, I ask them if they like mincraft and they both are like "its so damn boring quickly"

And myself knows how many sick hours can be swallowed by just FTB mods and how extremley different it becomes, but I have such troubles explaining/showcasing it for them in a quick manner, without sounding boring or too much in depth

How would you explain FTB mods for Minecraft for someone who is open for trying but has no interest initially?

Is there any perfect aimed trailer for modpacks for them?

Direwolf20 makes awesome mod spotlights, but its for people who knows whats going on, since he goes quite into depth
And just a letsplay video is useless since it doesnt show any overall contents just "what happens this moment" stuff

I would probably say something like the following:

FTB is an active community for people who enjoy modded Minecraft. On the surface level, mods fall into 2 primary categories: Tech and magic. On the surface, within each of these 2 categories, mods can do things like multiply your ore production (ore doubling), automate ore collection (quarries), and store huge amounts of items in a single block (Applied Energistics). At a deeper level, mods allow you to fly to the moon (Galacticraft/Advanced Rocketry), travel to other dimensions and fight magical bosses (Abyssalcraft, etc), and even build this thing here (show picture of Draconic Evolution Energy Core) which stores trillions of energy.

If that doesn't excite them, take them to curse forge and tell them about the hours you've spent looking through the available mods (oh ya, and there are 2 major eras with very different mods, 1.7 and 1.10+!) Lastly I would explain how I've have had to actually LEARN to play each mod, similar to work/school... you aren't going to simply turn on Reactorcraft and build a 4-branch tokamak reactor from without studying the design concepts.

As for actually learning to play modded... walk them through their first 2 mods. Pick something that EVERYONE needs to know and isn't hard to understand, like Tinker's Construct. Ask them to do you a favor and go find some clay while you get sand and gravel - now watch this multiblock come together!

Cheers!

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
How about "The stock game is pretty damn boring so install a tonne of mods to make it damn interesting"?

The longer answer is the mods allow you to build Minecraft into a totally different game. Try getting them to join you in the good old FTB: Expert mode skyblock map (MC1.7.2) or the original classic FTB pyramid map. Both options look and play completely differently from the stock game, and that difference is felt right from the word Go!
