2 Steam = 1 EU

not overly bad... the steam turbine is better (as far as I know), but it eats steel and is fairly expensive...
Powerconverters is even better! Doesn't chew anything and 800mb/t>512eu/t. It's a pain in the rear to setup all those converters for 35 boilers.. I would use GT for that just because it's better than a stupid turbine and you just filler up.

yes, of course.

I never said, that the conversion rate is good. on the other hand, the 800 mb steam would convert to 400 eu.

and since some GT-machines have a tendency to vanish (together with the surrounding blocks), if they get to many EU... and the steam supply would solve that :)

Yep no need for transformers since steam doesn't come in voltages and there isn't pressure in the game yet so I guess for that up side I guess it's worth the less efficient coversion rate and that I don't have to put 35 setups! Liquducts are capped at 5 buckets per tick so that's much higher than stupid steam consumers.

You could use universal power cables from mekanism(UE), works with any kind of power(ic2,bc, ue and mekanism power)and at any voltage(as much as i understand it gives every machine the exact voltage level that it can handle). There are also those energy cubes that function as a universal power storage device(also from mekanism)

Edited the post cause i derped a bit and wrote ic2,eu instead of ic2,bc

I like this idea... Lets expand on it. Some type of conduit or cable that carries energy be it eu, mj, blutricity, etc. so you only need one power source (or maybe require at least one power source for each type of power). Then like the bc pipe you insert a device into the conduit or cable right at the machine you want to power. The device would have an interface that would allow you specify the power needs of that machine. For example an ic2 electric furnace would set be 32eu/t. Or instead of an interface it could be different modules (one for 32eu/t and another for bc) like the different types of gates.

So how do those cables work exactly?? Like would I be able to do this?
Industrial Steam Engines> universal power cables> machines?
Or how would it's work exactly? never heard of those. Also how does power loss work? And these can auto adjust voltages which is kinda interesting but again no idea if they're easy to use. Or if you have to get "tangled" up just like Powerconverters.

These are just ideas for a future mod. But the idea would be not to get them tangled. As for steam.. I don't know if I would classify it as power. It is more like lava (a liquid that can be used to generate power).

No, it's steam. And steam in itself is useless; you need a generator to actually use it for anything meaningful. Which is why mods like powerconvertors and mods using steam directly like GT don't make any sense at all.

People claim it's "the" power system RailCraft uses. This is nonsense. The RailCraft rolling machine doesn't use steam, it uses BC power. The author of RC intended the steam to be used in engines that then produce power, not directly. I dislike mods taking shortcuts like these.
