The mushroom harvester from forestry only works on huge mushrooms, and while those are produced by the mushroom farm, that requires a constant source of mycelium, and the dampeners to make them take up huge amounts of wheat... the other sane option is to use a mushroom terraformer from ic2.

On the other hand nobody seems to have any idea how to reduce the range of a terraformer so that your entire world does not turn into a mushroom island.

You could always make an energy condenser targetting wheat, fuelled by energy collectors, and automatically send the wheat into the moistener.

It is really easy to setup, as even a MK1 collector is enough, and you won't have to worry about anything else.

You might need the same for seeds, and make sure to have a water supply strong enough, but it is one of the easiest parts to automate in forestry.

It should be then enough to just make One mycelium and target it or am i wrong?! It should be targetable as it is a vanilla block.

Yeah, it is, it's a 1 EMC block, but seeing as it comes out quite fast from a totally dark room for the moistener, I usually never bother using EMC on it.

rather silly to spend emc on wheat, to make a 1 emc block.

But as I said, the issue isn't making mycelium, the issue is making terraformers do LESS.

So, on subject folks, how much of a wall does it take to limit the spread of mycelium in a teraformer's range?

Yeah, if you only make the mycelium, wheat is not worth it, but if you have a tree farm and peat farm, the product you get, in a carpenter, will et you more than you would with a normal crafting and a water bucket.

That said, for the terraformer, I'm not sure you can stop it if it is in range.
You might be capable to do so if you have no dirt in the area where you don't want it to spread, but again, the power needed for such a device is way above the 1 emc or the wheat way. I guess some people complain about the cost of some things while doing completely wasteful things in other places, that's just how we are.

a running mushroom terraformer is only 4 or 8 per tick, so a single LV solar would cover it...

I think the only way to tell for sure, would be to run a mushroom planter for an hour, and count the output, and run a mushroom terraformer for an hour and count the output...

course, this might not work at all, if the modification that causes them to not spawn cactus, also causes them to not spawn mushrooms.

The thing is, that terraformer don't PLACE blocks, they replace them as far as i know, so you could build a platform a bit further away and start it there to prevent it changing your starting area into a mushroom fortress xD

I've seen it act on blocks over a hundred blocks away mind you. The range is rather impressive. I'm sort of hoping that I could box it in with walls or something.

I will test this.
