How do rftools crafters work?

as the title says, i am having trouble with crafters.i think i have everything set up right, added the recipe (set to make compressed cobble) but it didnt craft. i think i have enough rf. i have a coal generator powering it.

Did you 'apply' the recipe to a recipe slot?

yes, i applied it. figured it out though. had a problemm with my cobblegen not feeding it cobble
