How do I purchase, set up, and run a small server?

I was wanting to rent a small server that can run FTB for 2 people. How do I go about doing this, and how do I set up a white list?
Is there anything else I need to know?

Find a VPS service provider with about 1GB of RAM available (I run a private server with just myself and with my contraptions use on average 700mb). Once you've found a provider, follow the guides in my signature to get a FTB server up and running. Some Minecraft hosts offer setup for you, but you'll end up paying a pretty penny for it

Also, I've already been warned for "advertising/spam" so you may want to consider removing your link StarLiner.

Whilst I would highly recommend http://www.creeperhost.net/ they do require a little bit of knowledge on behalf of the server owner as the config files are mostly unassailable through the web based control panel so you'll need to learn to use an sfpt client like filezilla to make changes to your server.

Otherwise I've had great success with http://www.multiplay.co.uk/ but you'll want to check with them that they support FTB which I know creeperhost does.

I ended up getting a server with aim2game.
I have no idea what I am doing. how do I set up the mod pack? How do I restart the world after i add the mod pack?

Download Filezilla. Then go into your game manager. It should give an FTP link, connect to your FTP with filezilla and follow the instructions for installing the pack.

to delete your world, simply delete the 'world' folder after the mod is installed.. It'll generate a new one.

Are you running an aim2game server? FTB by default is 1.4.2. The password for your A2G server should have been included with your original confirmation of purchase email.
