I've been getting nature essence from my golem set-up, but... it's significantly lower output than manual farming

I think however a few posts back about going old-school on that would be good, and you could rig it up to automatically transport the seeds back into a MFR planter to replant the area, and harvest it via water streams. That would be worth a try

yep water flooding works. neat trick: you can place lilypads of fertility underneah the crop, as long as they are no more than 4 blocks underneath, great for keeping the lilys out of the way of the floods. also tried a couple timewood clocks (twighlight forest), they work as well to accelerate the growth. try lamps of growth from thaumcraft as well

Water harvesting seems to get all the goodies? For real?

yes. i ran a 3x8 diamond seed plot, and i get the seeds, the diamond essence and nature essence, even a few weak essence drops. one thing i noticed is you never get extra seeds. when horizons came out i used to get the occasional extra seed from harvesting but i dont see it now.

fertilized dirt + lilypads of fertility + timewood clocks are the way to go with this, almost a full crop every 2 minutes or so

extra seeds are a setting in the config, you can change it to produce extra seeds (and the % they drop)

shots of what i did to test:

in the back 3 dispensers are set up to flood the patch via a button. in front of the farm is a row of hoppers feeding into a plain chest. itemduct from chest pulls items and sends them back to AE system, but not before passing the planter. theres a servo on the duct pulling seeds out to keep the planter stocked. underneath the farm you see the 2 water 'buckets' (having fun with microblocks ;) ) holding the lilypads of fertility, and the timewood clocks. theres a cyclic assembler taking the diamond essence and crafting them into diamonds. it would be easy to setup a CC turtle or computer to sit on a loop and act as the floodgate controller for this farm on a timer. cool thing is the planter waits to replant the crop until the water is clear. the planter has a +4 range upgrade to reach all the farm tiles.

im thinking of trying my hand at a lilypad factory as well, might have a go at it after seeing how well this works.

Cool stuff. I don't have MFR in my pack, but I can replant (annoyingly) via activators of some sort. I'll likely use a rotaryCraft vacuum to pick up all the drops.
