How do I enable lava/water placement?

I'm running FTB Ultimate on my server. I could have sworn that I could place water at one time, I haven't made any changes since installing the server, and I installed with all defaults. Any ideas where I could check to see if lava/water placement is disabled?

Water/lava placement won't work? What block are you trying to place it on? Is it possible you're just running into some lag?

I first ran in to it when trying to build an industrial blast furnace with lava in the middle. When I place the lava it disappears from the bucket and appears briefly where I place it but then almost immediately disappears. When I pick up my bucket to move it from the quick bar back to my main inventory the lava reappears in it. I was able to fill the furnace with lava by placing obsidian in and lighting it with a wrath igniter.

I just ran in to the same issue with water when trying to build an infinite spring to make coolant cells for overclocker upgrades, it behaves the exact same way as lava did. I also tried to place lava in a space surrounded by stone bricks to make a place to throw excess cobble and dirt and it did the same thing.

I've only been playing FTB for a couple weeks so I didn't get your joke, but just to be sure I didn't make any changes from the default FTB Ultimate install

(The joke was a reference to a lovely little mod called BetterThanWolves, which, among other things such as being incompatible with Forge, makes it impossible to use Buckets to place water; you need to use a Screw Pump to do that.)

It sounds like you have some major lag issues; it seems to perfectly agree with what that would cause.

Let's try a different approach. If I had a freshly installed FTB Ultimate server and wanted to prevent people from placing water or lava, how would I do that?

From moving water/lava? I THINK that is a vanilla mechanic and is not changeable w/out a mod.

I do know that some mods in Ultimate CAN disable infinite water, but they don't disallow the ability to move water/lava.

Thanks for all the responses. I don't know what caused it but stopping and starting the server fixed it. It was weird, only lava and water placement were affected, everything else continued to work fine. I can only assume it was a memory leak with some strange consequences.
