Logs: I can post some if I'm requested to, but I'm really not sure they're necessary given the nature of my problem.
Description
(there's a summary at the end if you're not into reading huge walls of text)
My friend made a machine that pumps cobblestone from some Igneous Extruders into a chest and pumps out of the chest with a redstone engine into some recyclers. Naturally, one redstone engine cannot keep up with 4 Extruders so the chest filled up and the items started spilling onto the ground. My friend left the machine unattended and now whenever we get near the chunk that his house is in, we experience extreme amounts of lag; if the chunk is loaded but we're 3-4 chunks away from it we only get block lag, but when we get within 2 chunks or so our game freezes and we get a frame every 10-20 seconds or so if we're lucky.
I'm making an assumption here, but I'm pretty sure it's the fact that there's likely 100+ stacks of cobblestone on the ground that's causing us to lag... I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this (sorry! I couldn't find a better spot) but I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to how I could fix this. I don't have any backups of the world before it happened because I'm stupid, but I was looking into ways to delete dropped items and I couldn't find a single one.
What I've Tried
I've tried using MCEdit, but as anyone who has used MCEdit with an FTB map probably knows, it doesn't work so well - new blocks added by FTB are replaced with such things as pistons and coloured wool.
I've tried using server mods that are usable without Bukkit, but I had no luck in finding a good one that is for 1.4.2 and has the command I'm looking for. I know of some Bukkit server mods that let you "/remove items" or whatever, but the options are much more scarce for non-Bukkit servers.
I've tried going up to his house with an x-ray texture pack I put together and a mining laser set to long range to snipe the igneous Extruders and leave the items to despawn, but the lag present on the server makes it (seemingly) impossible to do so; the laser doesn't even show up because of the block lag even though right clicking is draining power from my laser.
I've tried just going into his basement and breaking the igneous Extruders so that the generation stops, but as I've said before the lag is extreme and I'm unable to move when I get in his house.
I've considered using explosives / a nuke to blow his house and machine out of orbit, but it's not really an option for two reasons. The first is that it would mean my friend would have to basically start anew, but the second (and main) reason I'm not doing it is simple: lag. The block lag is so severe when I'm even CLOSE to the chunks that his house is in that it takes approximately 40 seconds to break a piece of dirt before it drops on the ground, then another 40 to pick it up... normally this would still be doable with some perseverance, but my client freezes when I get too close.
Final Words
The server in question is my server, but it's not running on my computer. I'm using KBG Servers to host it, and the server has worked wonderfully until now. I have access to the server's console and I can use FTP to access the files used by the server, so keep that in mind when posting. Thanks for reading (or skipping half of it, I wouldn't blame you for doing so) and looking into my problem.
TL;DR friend made a machine that went wrong and it's constantly pumping cobblestone onto the ground; need a way to delete dropped items, rappel into his basement, and eliminate the Igneous Extruders.
