I realize that you need to build a wall around the geyser, but I've done that, and my pump is still only taking up water for some reason. The geyser has oil in it, and there's a wall all the way around, so I don't get why it's pumping up the water.
What's the range on the BC pump? Can it go through walls?

Also, once the pump gets down to the bulb, does it suck ALL the oil in the bulb? Does the range go that far?

Thanks for the help

If you have MFR it has a liquid router. You can drop your sand curtin around the site and pump everything form your pump through the liquid router sending water one way and oil another.

ok then you can just give up on the surface oil. You should be able to make a 3x3 sand curtin around the 1x1 oil spout

Tight curtain around the spot, cans for the surface oil? Could work.

It would remove any issue with the pump as there should be a soild coloumn of oil from buble to the spouts top.

And yeah your liquid collection of choice to scoop up the surface stuff around it.

This is exactly how I solved this problem about a week ago. Liquid router to route the water to a void pipe and the oil to my tesseract. I had a 3x3 curtain of cobble (I do things the hard way derp) and it worked great...
