Horrible Lag Spikes

When using the Direwolf20 pack for 1.6.4, I am encountering massive lag spikes approximately every 2 seconds. I think this is the autosave function, but the only way to change the autosave duration I know of is Optifine, which doesn't work with the Direwolf20 pack.

Does anybody know other ways to change the autosave, or is my problem not linked to autosaving?

Check out the thread linked below that will help with heavily modded minecraft. You can use optifine but it is not recommended and you won't get offical tech support if you do.

What are your system specs?
