i created a 2 player crash landing, made me and my friend OP so we could spawn food, i wanted to stay alive. so now i tried de-oping myself, but then i cant open any chests or anything. In order to open chests i need to stay as an OP. But i dont want to be OP because then i cant look at crafting recipes. Anyone help?

Dont understand why you would need to stay OP to open chests...
But as OP you can just change the NEI state to recipe mode and you can look up recipes like normal. Do it under Options when pressing E, then Inventory, then Cheat mode to Recipe mode. You probably need to click the Global button to do change it.
Also you can always click R or shift+R to look up recipes for the item you hover over.

There could be an issue with the "spawn protection" system built into minecraft itself.
On my servers, if you are not an OP, you can't open chests, press buttons, or activate levers/pressure plates. This was built in as an anti greifing system in vanilla minecraft.
Maybe when you de-OPed yourself it put you in this situation as well?
