Hello!

I've encountered a small problem that i myself cant solve, so i thought maybe some off you have stumbled over the same problem but managed to solve it, so to it then.

I'm working for free helping a guy setting up some servers with FTB modpacks installed, he is a very close friend to me and he trust my judgment an capabilities but i think i might have taken too much water above my head this time, whenever i try to set up a server at his server host i stumble over the problem that EVERY single one off the servers starts up as a Vanilla server and it doesn't matter what or how i do it, im trying at the moment set up a small Departed server for us and it wont load any mods into the server and it has this icon saying its Vanilla when you try to log onto it, he / we are using Clanforge as our host for the moment we are going to migrate to our own dedicated server when all of us have collected the money for one.
so does anyone have the same experience when trying to host a server?

many thanks for any serious answers.

I don't know about the control panel Clanforge uses but usually there is a setting or a dropdown to select the .jar file used to start the server.

Do you have root terminal access? If not and the control panel doesn't give you the functions you need you may want to look at another provider.

hmm, well now i tried uploading a zip file of the mod hopefully it will work, it would be a shame to switch hoster since we really got ourself the best deal when hosting server via Clanforge 50% of our ts server and 70% off on all our Minecraft servers :/ so far we havent found any host with theese low prices and 60 bucks for a 20 player slot server with 4gb isnt really "cheap" IMO/IOO right now we have like 4 servers for like 30 bucks a month, but do you know a EU hoster with really good prices i think i can sell the idea of switching host but it really has to be a worthwhile price :/

I have a dedicated server in Germany from Hetzner, 40€/month, 32gb ram, 2x3tb storage. You could also take a look at OVH and Kimsufi.

First, the "forge" in "ClanForge" is entirely co-incidental to the "forge" in "minecraft-forge".

Next, in their terminology, a "mod" is a modification of a base game. So, strictly, "Forge" is the mod you want to install using the terminology from this page: http://wiki.multiplay.co.uk/Clanforge/Mods

So, your actions would be to follow the instructions in that page:
* Create a new profile
* Select Minecraft as the base game
* Examine the list of available minecraft mods, looking for "Forge" or "FTB Server" - hopefully with versioning indicating which version of Forge /Minecraft is being supported.

There are three possible results:
1. You find a Forge or FTB option, and it is well integrated. In which case the "addons" panel will let you upload the various forge mods and config that make up the pack you want.
2. You find a Forge or FTB option and it is not well integrated. You will need to use the Upload Files / File manangement to manually copy the mods and config folders into the appropriate places for the FTB modpack
3. You cannot find a Forge or FTB option. In which case, download the FTB dedicated server for the modpack you want. Upload it using the Upload panel, and open a support ticket as instructed in the above wiki, they will install it and get back to you when done.

I'll second the recommendation for OVH. I have a server with them (been 3 years now). I pay $70 a month, but it isn't a virtual box. It is dedicated hardware. I currently run 3 different mod packs at the same time on that hardware and have no issues.
