help with setting up a direwolf20 1.12 server

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Title help with setting up a direwolf20 1.12 server

Launcher Type Server

Modpack direwolf20 1.12

Modpack version 1.7.1

Have you modified the pack? No

Link to log file

Details of the issue I have 2 problems/questions

1. I get the error[17:57:54] [Server thread/WARN]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 10200ms behind, skipping 204 tick(s) I there a way to make this harder to get

i have allocated 4GB ram as far as I know. I changed in the setting.bat the max ram from 2048M to 4096M and I am running a i7 6700K overclocked to 4.5Ghz

2. how do I remove the error [19:08:15] [Server thread/WARN]: player moved too quickly! -6.799365362145863,0.0,15.941848608085479

I tried yo put the command /gamerule disableElytraMovementCheck true in the console
and allowed flight in server properties but I didn't help.

Hey,

The player movement message might be the reason of your server running behind and skipping ticks,

Try to allocate 2 more gigs to the server,

Also make sure your internet speeds are good enough to be able to run the server.

And lastly try not to generate new land to quickly with draconic armor, no server is able to handle those updates.

I wil try to add more ram and see what that does
But as far as taskmanager tels me it never hit above 2.5gb

I tested it on a fresh world with no loaded chunks but that didn't change a thing

I have 400mb/s internet so that can't be it

Oh and it also happens when i make 2 chunk wide circles or fall down real fast i get set back the moment the speed error comes up.

Edit: but thanks for thinking with me why this happens to be honest i am out of idees.

Wel there is one thing that i think that happens is that because i run the server and the game on the same computer the cpu is the bottleneck since it only uses like 25% of my cpu when running both
Is there a way to make it so my server and game take different cores? At least for what i found is tge minecraft only ever takes 2 cores 1 for cunks and one for the rest

Though my game it self runs fine with around 120fps

I would never recommend people to run the server and game on 1 machine,
since this is just too recource demanding.

As far as I know there would be no way to allocate a single core specifically for the server.

With that CPU it shouldn't be a issue - you should be able to run both of them.

The OS will handle this, trying to "pin" a process to a core could have other negative effects on the system.

overclocked to 4.5Ghz
My guess is that this could be the cause of your issues.

Remove overclocking (also disable, uninstall the software for it - if there's a 3rd party software):
Set it back to defaults - restart your computer and try again.

Questions:
How much ram do you have in total on the machine?
Is this running from SSD or HDD?
What GPU do you have?

If you still have issues, give client log and server log - use paste.feed-the-beast.com and share the links.
