In the middle of my base I have a chunk in my single player world that only seems to be partially saving. Every time I close out of minecraft and go back in, a good portion of what I have done in that chunk during my playtime is gone. things like all of the walls reverting to stone and dirt, or the EnderIO capacitor banks I've been putting in there will just vanish. I'm not sure what exactly is happening but it seems that if I make small changes then it may keep them, but if I make big changes then it definitely won't.

Anyone ever heard of something like this?

Honestly, no I haven't...
Obvious first question would be, have you had this issue on other worlds? Is that chunk the spawn chunk (makes it easy to replicate the issue on other maps)?

I would understand if you had used a "world regen missile" from ICBM, but I don't think I have ever heard of a world not saving massive changes, but keeping minor stuff. Maybe you have a corrupted chunk? But I have never known them to do that before.

Nope, it's not a spawn chunk and ICBM isn't installed. I've also never seen this behavior before which is why I was asking here.

I think the issue may be related to the EnderIO capacitor banks, because the problem only seems to occur if I place a large number of them...Only issue is I have the exact same setup in other chunks without this issue.

I've seen this in vanilla. Etho had some "old" villagers in his base after he upgraded his world to 1.8, and anything that happened in that chunk got reset because nothing was ever saved. You should move everything you've done in that chunk out of it to a chest, then try placing blocks, exiting the game, and coming back to see if it's saving state. Etho ended up having to murderize two villagers, which solved his chunk problem.

I think I figured out the problem. I'm fairly certain that my game did not like me having 3000 Ender IO Capacitors in that chunk, I noticed that I could slowly add 1 or 2 until I hit a limit that it wouldn't save anymore. After that I could remove one and place it else where in the chunk and it would save. I've got the problem fixed now, just by cutting down the number I had.

Moral of the story, if you want to build big EnderIO capacitor banks, build them horizontally rather than vertically.

3000!!!!!!!! That MIGHT be a little excessive?

if it's worth doing, it's worth doing to a ridiculous amount. Besides, that's nothing compared to the power generators hooked up to it (10 big reactor turbines pumping out 24k RF/t each). On a side note, i don't expect to run out of energy (14+ billion RF stored) anytime soon after looking at the crazy amount of yellorium I'm sitting on.

I also had a problem with my personal test LAN server I was doing for that modpack I'm testing compatibility on. I had some display cases from bibliocraft on a wall I put a bunch of alumite tools in once I had made them, and when I logged back in the cases were all empty. :/

I reported a similar bug for Thaumcraft: Tile entities don't save their current state if they are updated and the server is quickly shut down.

I have taken to performing an explicit save-all from the server console before shutting the server down as I rather suspect the bug is not unique to thaumcraft.
