So i know there's supposed to be an offline mode but my launcher never seems to kick into it.... it always throws up an error in the console about not being able to connect to the servers... ive already downloaded the pack i want to play and i have a paid minecraft account so its not cracked or anything is there any way to kick it in to offline mode manually?

There is no offline mode because the FTB guys want to prevent Cracked versions from getting in as easily(doesn't matter if yours is legit); there are methods using other launchers such as MCLauncher to get offline mode via using in-launcher commands to copy the FTB install, though, which I had to do alot of digging to find.

I feel your pain though, I moved recently and was without internet for a week and I wanted to toy around with FTB in the interim, luckily I knew comcast would screw me over the way it did and I had prepared by finding that workaround before the moving occurred so I could play offline lol

I'm able to get FTB to launch in offline mode just fine. The error box pops up telling me it can't connect, then after pressing Ok, another small box (which loads kind of slowly) appears asking if I want to play offline.

just remember that you must login with your minecraft.net username and password atlest once before you can play offline
