Help - Plates on Machines?

So I clicked an ic2 machine and happened to have a copper plate in hand. How do I remove the plate? The machine is the plate bending machine of course. I had a hopper on the top if it with a chest at the rear, now items do not cycle from the hopper to the machine and into the chest when complete.
