I have image googled many phrases attempting to find a nice way to set up gregtech's bronze machinery without it looking terrible. I cant find anything. I want to get some ideas on making a steam factory and a nice way to set up the bronze machines. Maybe intertwined with railcraft's steam systems as well and any other relative FTB mods. I am not an idiot, I know HOW to set them up, I just cant think of a nice *looking* way to do so. An aesthetic way, maybe a steampunk or rustic looking way...I dont care as long as it looks good. Since this is the screeny area, and to give others and idea of my building style (which is really lacking style at all really...lol), I will post the little I have on my world as it is only a few hours old now...

Too much wood to be steampunk-ish.
Smooth stone, stone bricks, concrete or bricks with metallic parts here and there would probably look better?

Bricks. Build a brick wall around an area behind the buildings, and put your machines in there. Perhaps extra utilities spikes on top to 'protect' them from thievery.

Oh those buildings are NOT permanent. lol. They are too ugly. This new building with the bronze stuff will be my main base, its going to be far from my current base mountain and ocean adjacent, so I think a new style will look better there anyway. Im just trying to decide on a way to make gregtechs bronze age look...well decent...

Specifically though, the bronze machines need both pipes for steam and exhaust ports, and so far, just having holes in my wall for the exhaust has made things very ugly...I was just wondering if anyones come up with more crative solutions to the bronze age...

I don't play with Gregtech myself (although the new versions look more interesting that I expected). So I am not sure if machines can share the same air block to exhaust into.

If they can perhaps you could arrange them like this.

Like I said I don't have Gregtech so imagine that the metallurgy bronze blocks are the machines. There is a railcraft smoker on top of the tower which I though looked cool and exhausty. If you have Steve's factory manager that is a good way of managing putting stuff in and out with limited sides (it works for fluids as well).

I've looked around a bit, and Steve's Factory Manager is how Bevo did his Bronze Age in his SSP LP. It'll properly treat Steam as a fluid, so you don't have to connect them to independent steam inputs. Does it need a full block to vent into? or just an empty space? If only empty space, see if a microblock placed vertically will do the job. That could hide the output without leaving an ugly hole. Or if you do SFM, put the output down, then you don't see it at all, unless you're below it.

SFM Cables can also be camouflaged. :)

Really? That's one of the reasons I hadn't played with it yet, but that makes me excited to try it now.

That's right, I meant to say that is where I saw SFM being used and I thought it was cool.

Can the collision boxes be removed as well so you can walk through them like torches? I am sure I heard that once.
