Okay after some really extensive research I have pretty much figured out how to do mystcraft but the instability things really suck so I will probably just go into the config and disable instability and world decay. I probably will also get into rftools dimensions because that looks like it might be more specific or at the very least a lot of fun.

The reason instability exists is because people make the 'best worlds' and would get overpowered. You can have a wonderful mining age without instability.

I suggest you don't cheat your game and turn those configs off and play the mod like it is supposed to be played.

What exactly are you doing that is causing instability?

Okay after some really extensive research I have pretty much figured out how to do mystcraft but the instability things really suck so I will probably just go into the config and disable instability and world decay. I probably will also get into rftools dimensions because that looks like it might be more specific or at the very least a lot of fun.

So what, exactly, are you writing? Why do you have instability?

It is not hard to say "stone block, water block, flat world, mushroom biome, single biome distribution, normal lighting, full speed, normal sun", and get a basic world with minimal instability. Probably no instability, at least unless you get a random feature (note that I didn't specify ravines, caves, or mineshafts) that adds them. And if you do specify caves, ravines, mineshafts, and dungeons, you probably won't get any instability at all. Heck, add water block, surface lakes, lava block, underground lakes if you really want an almost clone.

If you want more ores than normal, then you will get instability unless you do some intelligent writing. Look into either deep ocean flat worlds, or island worlds, as ways to cut down on oregen to reduce the cost of worlds.

Oh yea -- If you want to abuse things, look into obelisks + island worlds.
That will give you mining ages, just not the sort you are used to.

Well I am considering removing instability because the following. First I mastered the way of making my mushroom flat world so then I decided I wanted emeralds so i do the exact same world but with extreme hills and the world spawns with all of the istabilities including world decay. But I don't feel I will be abusing mystcraft but rather just making my mining ages so I don't have to mine the overworld. I will probably also make lava world ect but my point is not to make the game easier but so I don't have lag out my world and have to delete the mystcraft world. Thanks for the page layout btw I will have to give it a try keybounce!

Ok, so you changed from mushroom island to extreme hills, and you got instability.

What was the full list of pages you specified? Or better yet, what is the agedata file for that age?

Keep in mind: If you don't specify things in the age, Mystcraft will add things. In the current version, that's (large features, medium features, small features) -- mystcraft wants at least one of each. There are pages to specify "lacking large features", etc.

Anything not specified will be filled in randomly.
Any random item might bring instability.

That you got instability might mean nothing more than "a random feature was added that added instability". Iron ore as some type of feature is the most likely. (Coal is more common, but not likely to cause instability above a single potion effect).

Now, you got world decay?? Seriously?! Please tell me how! I want to see that agedata file.

I will give you the list of pages but i do not want to recreate it because it literally crashed my game and caused major problems until I deleted that mystcraft world. list is Mooshroom island biome, single biome, stone block, flat world, zenith phase, zero length, normal sun, zenith phase, zero length, normal moon, twinkling stars, no weather, normal lighting, strongholds, villages, dungeons, star fissure, crystal block, crystaline formations, mineshafts, ravines, natural grass/clouds/water/fog/foliage/sky, rainbow, and clear modifier pages. and that was the 1 age i got working but when I do the exact same thing with the extreme hills it gives me major instabillity and so much lag that even when i leave the age i get like super lag spikes. I don't know how to give you the age data file though.

Crystal block, crystalline formations will give a small amount of instability. Not much.

strongholds, villages, dungeons, mineshafts, ravines -- that's small and medium features. Not large features. There could have been something added as a random large feature that gave you extra ores for instability.

Floating Islands, and Tendrils, are large features that can take ore blocks for added fun.
