Hey guys and galls! I've recently began a little build, and I would like your help designing it! So lets do it!
I've got the 'general layout' of the kingdom walls, but I need your help to complete it!

Here's what I need:
  • What building's should I incorporate into the Kingdom?
  • What's the best way to quickly remove a large amount of land? (See Image 1)
  • Shipping/sail boat ideas.
(This list is temporary and may grow, or shorten over time)

So here's what i'm currently working on(More image will be available later). Image 1
As you can see, it's not that great, and the question stated earlier still stands. (How to remove vast amounts of land)
So, I'm kind of wanting to make this a 'group project' if you will, so here's what I'm going to do. before building the buildings and such, I will take a top down picture like Image 1, and post it here for you to see, and here is what I ask of you, if you want to, save the image, and edit it, like I did in image one, lay out a design, or a 'blueprint' if you will for me to follow, If I like the idea or think it's better than my poopy idea, I'll try to incorporate it into the build.

Here's the Dock, and Bay area's blank top-down photo, edit it and reupload it, please! Dock & Bay - Blank

For map making purposes, I highly recommend JourneyMap. It gives you the ability to export the map as a jpg(?) which can be cropped down nicely.

For a list of buildings to include, take a look at the Refugee to Reagent Challenge or one of the similar Castle Building Challenges for inspiration. You may not need the full list or the quantities of some, but it's a good start for logical progression.

I recommend "terraforming" the land by hand. Don't try and do it with a filler or something, it is just not worth it. Get a good Staff and a Frugal enchanted Excavation focus(great for "carving", Equal trade(swap whatever you unearth back to dirt again) and a fast/instant shovel and you can do that small and uncomplicated piece of land in no time.

While I'm normally all for the Filler, in this case, rhn's right. The area is just too big. Seeding the area with TNT might be a better option. On land you'll get best effect putting it a couple blocks above the ground, while in the water what you want is to set it in a two block deep hole, and use a tinker's redstone brick on top. That's one redstone, to set off the TNT. That should rapidly lower the area so you can build there.

Alternately, if you've got something like Mekanism's Obsidian TNT, you can use fewer of that to get more bang for your buck. Not as easy to control the blasts though.

If you want to play with explosives, sure. But its more work repairing all the derpy craters and buggy water it leaves, than if you had just taken a shovel/excavator/excavation focus to it from the start in my experience.

Sounds like he's looking for rapid depth, over clean floors. Plus a properly laid blast pattern leaves a nice natural looking seabed.

You can use some WorldEdit magic if you don't mind cheating.
To get boat/ship designs look on youtube for vanilla "medieval building" youtubers (example: Madnes64, Jamziboy, might need to look at some older videos)
