I found out that no matter what mod I add via the launcher, it won't work except for Balkon's Weapons and Mystcraft. Tropicraft, Jammy's furniture, Mo's creatures all don't work. It's not that the game crashes it's simply that they don't appear. Any ideas?

Try importing into MultiMC and adding them that way. Of course, make sure you're using the most current versions, and have the correct Forge version as well.
