Hello, need some help, noob question!

Hi, just joined the forum to ask if there is anyway to move a mob spawner from the Twilight Forest into the Overworld using portal gun (or any other means to do so). Been racking my brains and searching the net but so far have come up with nothing.

Still using 1.4.2 pack btw (waiting on 1.4.6 ultimate pack).

Portal gun and mystcraft. Just lift the portal and jump into a mystcraft portal to the overworld.

Welcome, I honestly didn't think there was a legit way to move a mob spawner at all, so at a guess I don't think this will be possible.

I hope I am wrong though and someone does have a way to do this

As far as I know, there is no way to move blocks between dimensions/worlds, not even with Mystcraft.

If you were on 1.4.6, I would tell you to make a XP farm and shard to make your own spawner, but I am not sure if that was in the beta pack.

create a mystcraft portal and jump trough whit the spawner on your portalgun or garvity gun. the spawner will come trough whit you .(assuming you have those mods)

When you're carrying a block, it's not actually still considered a block, which is why it can go through a Mystcraft portal. I'm wanting to think I've heard frames can shove something through a Mystcraft portal, but that would take more experimentation than I've done.

Yes, this definitely works. On my old BETA A server a friend and I got a brilliant idea in our heads to ferry a Blaze Spawner over to the overworld using portal guns and a mystcraft portal. That didn't end well, since our house nearby the containment area was made of wood...

Yes, Mystcraft portals can transport any block held by the Portal Gun, including spawners.

Note that on rare occasions I've seen the spawner not appear on the other side of the portal. But simply relogging fixed it.

^^ Thanks Abdiel, i will bear that in mind. Got to expect a few bugs to occur every now and then!

Glad to know it can be done though! Quite excited that i can move spawners between dimensions

I tried this tonight, carried a blaze spawner through a mystcraft portal with a gravity gun and it crashed the server. I decided to mess around with it a bit in single player and i found that whenever you walk forwards into the portal (so that the spawner goes in first) it crashes, and when you walk in backwards you get through the portal ok but the spawner just disappears. This in in the direwolf20 pack (v3).

Since it is already necro'ed, I will add some more to this thread.

Answers only for FTB Unleashed.

1.) MFR's PortaSpawner. It's a single use item that works kinds of like the single-use safari net, but for mob spawners.

2.) DartCraft's Force Wrench.

3.) Gravity Gun or Portal Gun.

4.) Not sure if I'm missing anything else or not. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable fills in the missing blanks.
