Having problems connecting friends my server

I have tried many times to connect my friends to the server. Im not a techy, but i researched how to forward minecraft servers, followed the installation of the Agrarian Skies server, and still they cant connect. Can someone help me?
 
Is he hosting the server on his own PC or is it a rented server? Can other people connect? Do you know what port he is using?
