I know this is an old thread and one would suspect you found out by now but just in case the question arises again:
You need to build two blocks, make the Apiary (Pams apiary not forestry's) and place the Queen in there to start generating honey combs.
Then take the combs (two types, honey combs and wax combs, don't mistake these for BoP honeycombs) and place them in a Presser to get wax and honey. Wax can be used for a few things, like hardened leather armor and candles, honey is used in the food recipes.
