So I'm playing my game, building a tree farm area, and I fly back up to my platform where I'm building my stuff (solar array, oil tanks, and quarry input area) and exactly one chunk of my platform disappeared.

I know it was exactly 1 chunk because I tend to checkerboard my floor according to chunks, and in this chunk I had my ender chest, and a redpower 2 system that pulled items from it and put it in chests. Everything was nicely organized in this one chunk, and now its ALL gone. I didn't have anything on the ground below it so I can't be certain, but think something happened where the game just deleted everything I'd done in that one chunk. the terrain is fine, grass/flowers, but anything I placed is gone.

has this happened to anyone? is there a way to recover it?
It was an entire quarry worth of loot, especially stuff I wanted because I placed the quarry over a volcano to get the bassalt and now its all gone, along with all the resources I could have used.

Thanks

you can see where I had a solar panel set up to power a retriever, and a void pipe to get rid of cobble/dirt/gravel.

man this sucks...

the chunk reset, it happens when something goes horribly horribly wrong. There is no way to recover other than if you made backups.

As was said above it is chunk reset, basically something happened in that chunk that minecraft did not like and it purged the evil from the area. A few things can cause it like having 2 different chunk loaders over lap or a few other rare items.

When I saw the title I immediately thought "Most likely this was caused by automated enderchest pulling" so it was no surprise that the exact thunk that reset was the one where you were doing that.
Yeah, there's a bug wherein having machines pull stuff out of enderchests can cause chunk resets because it doesn't save properly. Now you know.

thanks eternaldensity... man i wish i know that ahead of time... note to self... always place ender chest pullers in its own separate chunk!

i was using chunk loaders too, but none that over lapped...
oh well, lesson learned

Second time our members reported this issue and got me concerned to search if anyone else is having this issue, and what the cause is. So far, the member that just got his house cut in half stated that it was his storage area, with some pipes and such. Same with the previous member about a month ago. Member stated he didn't have a chunk loader, and no enderchest that he was aware of.
What he can recollect is Centrifuge IC2 machines and a few thaumcraft blocks like an infusion altar.

Backups were made, and currently reverting to one.

dont revert the whole world FACEPALM just revert that region file, and if u can be bothered just that chunk (use world edit or an NBT editor)

How would I know what region file it is? I never used a NBT editor. One solution I'm currently doing is using multiverse and world edit that chunk back.

That thread worries me.
I used to use item tesseract but changed to enderchest with sorting machine pulling from it.
The reasoning was that an item tesseract need a relay in order to feed it to the sorting machine and as relays tend to cause some fps lag I was trying to minimize their usage.

But now this, I got my whole house on this chunk with all my diamonds just on top of the sorting machine :p.
I run my own server and never had an issue though, is the issue triggered when shutting down the server?
More info would be appreciated.

This is exactly why I have it setup to automatically upload my saves to dropbox. I used this guide to setup a symbolic link for only my FTB saves. The great thing with dropbox is that you can go on their website and download previous versions of your files.

I had this happen to me a few months back when I didn't use dropbox so I just used NEI to cheat in what I lost but it was still a pain in the butt to manually recover that way.

This happened to me the other day in the TF. Had a quarry going to town on a large hill, and i relogged to reset my client.

I log back in, and the chunk that had my energy tesseract, quarry, redstone cell, and ender chest had completely reset. So I cheated everything back in because fuck whatever happened.

Our server is hosted professionally, the server restarts daily, so perhaps the chunk got deleted on restart, I'm not sure.

I know of 2 chunk reset issues, one with pulling items out of a ender chest and the other with over lapping chunk loaders especially with quarries.
