Would it be alright to use Optifine with this?

This is actually an interesting question, as Forge is less than compatible with Optifine. If Forkage was to support Optifine, in certain it would garner a while new audience.

I'm not an Optifine user, myself, but I do have an ancient (and dying) computer, so I'm keeping my eyes on your progress. Nice work in trimming the fat.

Today I tried to start IE:E 2.4.2 with forkage and when it loaded up the main menu was covered with missing textures and when I created a new world the game crashed:
http://pastebin.com/XWZBYmrU
I immediately thought that CustomMainMenu mod was the issue because of this line
-- Affected screen --
Details:
Screen name: lumien.custommainmenu.gui.GuiCustom

so I deleted CustomMainMenu however it didn't fix the issue. instead it gave a slightly different crash:
http://pastebin.com/yxX4HMyj

now I don't know what to do, I followed all the instructions but I can't get it to work properly
Same.

Can you send me the whole log file, please? It should be at FTBInfinity/minecraft/logs/latest.log.

I have that exact error. Yesterday, i used the Forkage and it helps me a ton. I can play FTB with 2 gb ram without overheating my notebook. I THINK, i got this error after i updated to the new forkage installer.jar not sure about that though. When i connect to SMP it says "A critical error has occured, this connection is terminated". When i load up a singleplayer world. I got the exact same error as KewaiiGamer's

Heres my log: http://pastebin.com/wmfMRB1F
And heres the crash report if it helps anything: http://pastebin.com/ei3kbnGQ

The crash is directly from IC2 not having the EJML library, as Buffagenik's log proves (and another person who posted on the IC2 forums about it this morning). Just the crash as a result apparently makes Minecraft go slightly haywire.

Oops - guess I forgot a step. The EJML extraction doesn't work in Minecraft Forkage (and I haven't debugged it - I just extracted it manually and forgot about it)

so I have been testing forkage and managed to make it work. I used a modpack I made myself instead because IE:E is too heavy
first I tried to create a new world it failed and gave the same error as Buffagenik.
the error was server-side so I decided to start a clean forge server with the modpack I made and then joined the server with the forkage client
it gave me a different error instead:
Crash log : http://pastebin.com/N6Sd4F4a
Game log: http://pastebin.com/Kj50ja2y
I removed NEI and CodeChickenCore and joined the server again and IT WORKED.
the problem is that it uses a lot more ram than using the normal forge.
I have 4GB ram. Allocated 1024MB to forkage client and added this to the server -Xmx1G -Xms512M

I am at the moment messing around trying to get the forkage to work with multimc. If I have any success I will share what I did.

I am running a small 56 mod pack, a very very stripped down infinity evolved; with Chromaticraft, Rotarycraft, Electricraft, and Reactorcraft added and being the core of the pack. Supporting them are Forestry (with gendustry and magic bees), TiC, AE2, Openblocks, ExUtils, Thermal *, EnderIO, Blood Magic, Thaumcraft, and all their support mods and the general quality of life mods, especially Bibliocraft as I use it for mapping in lieu of Journeymap.

I run on a tiny 2gb dual core netbook, and it is actually running rather smoothly now with the chromaticraft dimension disabled (you need G1GC enabled in java for full chromaticraft, and it does NOT play well with a tiny 1GB heap) with a stripped down Windows 10 install (unfortunately a lot of win10 crap cannot be disabled sigh). But, I would very much like to use the forkage method here to free up memory, as I get a 5-10 second GC lag spike about every 5 mins when it does a large cleaning. Chromaticraft is a memory hog.

Will post updates, and want to thank you guys for doing all the work on this. Being able to play full Infinity Evolved online on this little machine will be pretty epic.

Also, if anyone needs help getting Reika's Mods integrated into Infinity Evolved 2.4.2, or setting up a slim Reika pack for a slow machine, just let me know as I have done both now.

I fixed the instructions in the original post. Do step 4 under "Use Minecraft Forkage", and try starting Minecraft again.
I've used the methods described, and I'm getting a similar error, even tried removing the custom main menu mod, as it was covered in missing textures, to no avail.
