Hey guys so I was was wondering with grief prevention (claim with a gold shovel) ?

Is it possible to claim a whole area and cut out a section from it ?

Lets say the section is in the middle and not the edge?

I too would like to know if there is a way to create protected zones.
I have set up a server for my nephews and nieces to play on and want to set home sites where only they can break blocks and maybe only they can place blocks as well.

Thank you for any help!

Well as far as I checked there's an option to use /adminclaims to make claims that only OP or allowed members can build.
About the part of cutting a middle of a claim is kinda hard.. better way is to make claims around that middle..

Couldn't you just mark out 4 claims, one around each "side" of an unclaimed area in the middle?

Not 100% sure how it works, but the last time I was on a server with it, it was limited to the number blocks rather than the number of individual claims.[DOUBLEPOST=1369835054][/DOUBLEPOST]

Grief Prevention is a server side bukkit plugin that you can put in. It allows players to do what you describe; protect an area completely. No building, no breaking, no stealing from chests and tons more restrictions on non-owners.

From my limited experience using this, the 4 claims method mentioned above would be my solution also.
