It all depends on your demands, after 4 used filters I found myself swimming in copper and decided not to bother much further unless I'd need it again. I'm just saying you should try it out if you have a thermal boiler, since its worth it. I believe its also not too hard to automatically insert new filters with AE or logistic pipes if you have surplus of carbon meshes.
