So I installed the new Mindcrack pack the other day and was watching my console to make sure everything worked and saw an error... It was something about how GregTech was trying to override some Puverizer recipe and to change this in the config file so my question is:
What had Gregorious done this time? :p

It's actually a change to how TE handles ore unification. If you change the config to allow the overrides, then the pulverizer will produce (for example) gold dust instead of pulverized gold. GT was already doing this unification in the previous version of the modpack. The relevant entry in the TE changelog is "Added: Gregtech support for Ore-Dict unification".

Edit: I believe the affected recipes are: Iron Ore, Iron Ingots, Gold Ore, Gold Ingots, Obsidian, and possibly Diamond Ore, Redstone Ore, and Coal Ore.

I heard he was trying to change the pulverizer recipe to be more time-consuming. -_-

Then you heard it wrong -.-.. he increased the number of redstone you get from 8 to 10+10% glowstone, and lapis you get from 8 to 12+ % of lazurite dust so it's on par with other yield of pulverized ores, he's not even changing the bone-> 6 bone meal in the pulverizer, no change in required MJ/ore as well (no change in time).

I'l let you know what i notice when i test it out. gonna enable all the hardmode options on TE and see just how much of a difference it makes.

Edit: On a similar note... anyone knows what in the blazes the unificator targets entries in the GT config does?
Anything interesting gonna happen if i mess with those?

Err, try it :D, nothing big will happen :)..i.e if you don't like the look of RP2 silver ingot, by disabling the specialunificationtarget of silver ingot, you will get GT silver ingot instead of RP2 one.. but you still get RP2 silver block if you compress them..

This seems to be correct. after enabling this change i now get the GT version of all the dusts when pulverizing. I'l call that confirmed.

Both of these I can also confirm.

So nothing sinister going on as far as i could detect. energy use remained the same. That GT adds the chance at Lazarite dust makes sense since GT uses that stuff. It's better for GT users who are also having access to the cheaper pulverizer to at least get some of that dust that way. since they are likely to postphone the industrial grinder til much later in the game.

Actually until now GT author never nerf anything that's related to TE :) (maybe later who knows lol). Even with the duplication of plat dust, GT author stated that he wouldn't do anything about the exploit, and it seemed like he's not even against it lol..

Pulverizer is more of an upgrade of un-overclocked macerator (for me, since I enabled all hardmode recipes of TE), so it's pretty cool that GT author added better yield to it :) (poor RC rock breaker, no one will make them anymore).

isn't there a chance that we will be getting GT gems instead of the RP2 ones as well then? that could potentially mess up some RP2 recipies... especially since Elo seems to be against using other gems than her own for making RP2 tools. maybe i should actually test that with a proper mining run in a newly genned world...

I am considering enabling it for the other mod's as well tho. if it's only a visual thing.[DOUBLEPOST=1361362864][/DOUBLEPOST]

He didn't force the issue with Elo either, despite her gem spamming practically breaking the rarity of the gems that GT uses. Rubies as replacement for diamonds anyone? Bloody well halved my need for diamonds that way. rubies being a dime a dozen once you get cracking on some IC2 miners.

Hmm, I think you can't make any RP2 recipes using GT gems (tools etc), so better not to disable the specialunification of gems..

The specialunificationtarget is located in advanced config and you can disable any of them if you want.

the thing I like very much: now I can empty the diesel cells and the oil cells via the liquid transposer.

the thing I'm not so sure about is: the new coal ore grinding recipe with the thorium pile per coal ore block. thorium is already now everything but rare (monazit ore), and a nice fuel for reactors...

Thorium was already obtainable from coal before this change, this is to prevent getting it from other sources of coal (wither skeleton spawner).

You could actually do this before the update, blaze rod-> blaze powder->coal dust->thorium; but since GT removed the blaze rod->thorium recipe, he thought a compensation was needed, thus he implemented coal ore->1 tp of thorium dust.

Nvm, so more people will start using IC2 nuclear reactor :); at least you need to mine it yourself..

I know.

the main source for thorium right now is: crafting 8 depleted cells, and then toss them into the breeder to get reenriched cells. then I put those cells into the centrifuge and get a plutonium cell, 4 thorium cells and 3 depleted cells again. and the cycle repeats.

since I use thorium cells as cheap neutron sources for plutonium cells (at the moment, a single plutonium cell gives 50 eu/t, with double and quad thorium cells, I'd get up to 160 EU/t out of one cell) they'll be increasingly important to me.

I also should mention that I have a dense ore world (I added mystcraft to mindcrack) and to avoid exploitation, I am mining there manually (somehow it's even nice (or even recreational?) to do that while watching tv)...

I know, I get thorium dust out of monazit ore, I just store the forcicum in a chest and the thorium dust in my nuclear components chest...

So many people with the impression that Greg will intentionally ruin the modpack by changes to other mods when he has been since the start trying his best to communicate with other mod authors and trying to avoid issues involving resource incompatibilities.

Anyone who actively follows the changes that are made or at least looks at the official thread once in a while would know this.

The changes that were made to the industrial electrolyzers also nerfs the diamond factories, now the only way to get the coal dust is from mined coal which normally wouldn't be a problem but my world is very limited on resources and heck.. I just got the factory up and running before the change! I'll be staying with the older version for a while i guess.

Ah, yeah.. but you can always use wither skeleton soul shard for your diamond factory.
