There are Thermal Expansion configs to add diamonds to the pulverizer and smelter recipes, as well as to require steel to create machine frames. With either or both, TE is more balanced, and GT already makes the BC quarry require a diamond drill rather than diamond pick.

IC2 needs to be harder, you can make a diamond drill in an hour. No reason to keep using the normal mining drill, diamonds arent very rare. Gregtech changes IC2 so its own additional content would fit, not just because it thinks IC2 needs to be "Harder". Its not even that hard to get the resources, thats what quarrys, frame machines, bores etc are for. Gregtech is balanced just fine. I do think that Thermal Expansion recipes shouldnt be as expensive as IC2 recipes, because IC2 machines can be considered as an upgrade when you install the overclockers and whatnot.

Remember, GregTech also changes the diamond drill recipe. The new one requires steel, which is either a significant amount of work into the GregTech tech tree, a visit to a nether fortress if you have Railcraft, or perhaps easier methods exist, depending on what mods/modpack you are using.

I meant to say that the original IC2 drill was too easy. The mining drill in gregtech isnt that hard to make, especially compared to the vanilla IC2 drill. Some rubber, tin, copper, iron. You have yourself a drill. Considering you can make netherbricks from netherrack, make magma cream from slimeballs and blaze powder from the desert, its not THAT hard or tedious to make a normal drill. Its good, because it actually requires a little bit of infrastructure. The diamond drill recipe was changed so it actually feels like an upgrade, not something you craft immediately after the previous drill. Since the machines required to make the diamond drill are used throughout gregtech, a diamond drill seems like a suitable place to start. IC2 without gregtech just seems soo....boring. When I played tekkit, in a few days we got pretty much everything from IC2, save a nuclear reactor. Gregtech makes it meaningful and worthwhile. It doesnt nerf it at all, if you look at the (fission)nuclear components it adds, it actually makes IC2 much more powerful.

I just used the drill as an example, you could apply it to whatever.
Dont really care for the macerator recipe, so whatever.

Bronze nerf is pointless, forestry uses enough bronze as it is.

Yeah, If you are playing with GT default config, I'd recommend you to enable all the hard recipe of TE (steel, diamond, gear) otherwise you won't feel the GT change since TE default recipe is pretty cheap.

Not always since when advanced solar nerfed those advanced panels, I uncrafted 3 of them for my matter fab, So people who made those machines can tear them down and get more out of them, then make macerators and electric furnaces to replace them. Btw gregtech nerfed the matter fab in the latest release to only be able to draw in up to 8192 eu/t and so you'll need about I think 4 per fusion reactor if you manage to make the new setup that is changed too.

You need 7 matter fabricators since the new fusion reactor+automation can go up to net of 54k with 0 overclocker deuterium/tritium machines.

o_O I can't believe no one has said change the matter fabrication rate.. This is how much EU is required to make 1 UUM.. Don't be afraid to throw 3-4 more 6's on the end ;)
Also like someone said disable RP2 gems.. They will HAVE to centrifuge redstone
