Now I know what you're thinking. I'm insane to want HARDER recipes for gregtech.
But now think about it, now i'm not saying this should be in gregtech, I want this as another mod.

What some guy needs to do is to scour the forums and find EVERY time where someone has put "iridium to make an axe to cut down ur first tree? GREG!" or something of the sort and make a mod out of it
For example my contribution would be that a diamond pickaxe must be made by refining diamonds using another diamond chisels which can only be used a few times. (since irl the only thing that can cut diamond is other diamonds and LASERS).
This would be a troll mod, i don't think anyone would be able to stand having to find 20+ diamonds to make a diamond pick and enchant table or requiring iridium to make advanced alloys or whatever.
If ANYONE can program receipies to make this, even as a troll mod then I dare you, i DARE YOU.

P.S
If someone does make a mod along these lines then I will accept the challenge to get a fusion reactor, 1,000,000 Eu/t generation W/O solar panels or Geo's or boilers, every gregtech machine, every bee machine and species and mabye even throw in every tree species as well!

But this is about GregTech, not TerraFirmaCraft.

To craft a diamond pickaxe you first need a diamond chisel, which isn't used up in crafting. The only way to get a diamond chisel is to craft a diamond chisel with a diamond, or to find one in a dungeon. Oh wait, that's Factorization.

If it were a troll mod, after gathering the 20 diamonds, they would turn into cobble and the chunk youre in would become corrupt and upon relogging, all mobs would be nyan cats with the ability to fly. Flying nyan creeper. Flying nyan spiders. Killing them drops lava. On your head. Killing them starts the nyan song. on loop. so if you kill two you have two nyan tracks on loop. be more creative as a troll

If youre actually looking for Ultra Hardcore with BALANCE, thats a different matter.

it would need reflections in the code, and most modders hate those
Where has any modder ever stated they hate reflection? I have used it myself from time to time, and I must say it's extremely useful for adding support to mods you don't want to be dependent upon. If any major mod interfaces with another major mod without requiring that other mod to be installed, it's a safe bet that reflection was used somewhere along the line.

TerraFirmaCraft does this great. It makes everything harder to get, rather than just taking more time.

I think an even better mod would be a GregTech addon that goes through all the GregTech recipes and reverts them to their IC2 equivalent. That would be epic.

I was thinking more along the lines of terrafirmacraft but with the IC2 recepies, with TFC on top of course! :D

I would actually love to play a mod like this, no joke. However the way that TFC does Ore Processing is a completely different paradigm than IC2's (or really ANY other minecraft mod). Realistically a tech mod for TFC would be able to smelt ore into molds, blend liquid ore automatically into alloys, cool them into ingots, and automatically hammer them into alloys somehow.

I actually almost think that Thaumcraft would be a better match for industrial-type purposes in TFC. Imagine a golem that could move materials between your forge and anvil automatically to keep it at the right temperature, or a golem that you could program a small amount of anvil techniques into. Plus, it fits the theme of TFC a lot better than IC2.

I guess you could try BetterThanWolves, for something closer to Minecraft than Terrafirma.
I honestly don't know what the hell is going up with that mod these days. Hope you enjoy getting 27 iron ore for a pick.

The mod would be a bit OP and Greg would need to nerf it and just remove the blocks entirely. Just remove every tree, block, and mob. The mobs are also made of iridium. You also need an iridium computer to download the mod.

GT is not hard, it's just a pain in the ass and makes everything take an unnecessary amount of time.

But I also like TFC, it's actually hard. It takes a long time, but that's because it's difficult.

GT is "hard" because it takes forever to do anything. TFC takes a long time to do stuff, but that's because it's difficult. It's this difference that makes GT a pain in the ass and TFC actually fun. TFC has a much better balance between difficulty and time-sinks because it actually balances vanilla Minecraft around itself. GT feels like artificial difficulty because it tries to extend vanilla while ignoring the balance of it. It feels unnatural for stuff to require a million materials when I can make a piston with a single piece of iron and redstone dust.

</rant>

(Generic Disclaimer: Only my opinion, don't get too butt-hurt about it)

But seriously, I want a GT balanced around vanilla and not Greg's bizarre idea of "balance". Can I get a mod to do that, please?

Also, we already have the Holy Planks of Sengir, what more do you want?
