Easy way to harvest rubber without running back and forth to my tree farm:

2012-12-25_22.48.56.png

Unfortunately, I can't figure out if there's a way to rotate the spots, so I have to grow and chop down trees to get the spots facing the right direction.

Post any other clever uses you can find here!

this actually could be done with the portalgun before, but both the developers of portalgun and IC2 thought that was too OP so they added the rubber tree logs with resin holes to the blacklist
I think this soon will happen with gravity gun aswell...

I don't think it should. Gravgun is cheese. Frames are not. You have to work to get that spawner.

Picking up Linking Books that are on the ground and shooting them at _____.
Block Ghast fireballs with anything, including fireballs. Shoot fireballs back too.

Are you implying shooting Linking Books can forcibly teleport things to the Linking Book's destination? Because if so, that's awesome.

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
Given how massive and clunky frame machines are, you'll need one hell of a setup to assemble a wall of resin spots. The gravi gun is also rediculously expensive (nether star). For the amount of effort needed to do this its not exactly OP. also You still have to manually harvest your resin wall- a forestry tree farm with treetap is a lot easier and fully automated.

I'm pretty sure only the Supercharged Gravity Gun requires the Nether Star. The normal one isn't quite so expensive.

I wouldn't call moving rubberwood logs overpowered, just a neat timesaver. Once I start building forestry machines, I'll have a rubberwood farm but all I have at this point in my game is some of the very basic IC stuff.

Yes, the gravity gun also works on spawners- to me, that's more OP than the logs.

The regular (not overcharged) gravity gun requires diamond (easy after a couple caving trips), 4 enderpearls (annoying, but not too difficult to acquire), glowstone (stolenborrowed from a mage tower!) and obsidian (also found in a mage tower). For what it does, it is pretty cheap. The mod creator recently made portal guns WAY more expensive and will probably nerf the gravity guns in a future update.

Nether stars aren't expensive thanks to redpower 2's Vorpal enchant. Stick that on a weapon and go for 20 minutes in a fortress and you will ahve more nether stars then you will ever need.

This is assuming you can actually kill the Wither, which is the point. Wither Skeleton skulls are hardly rare even in vanilla if you get a nether portal near or in a nether fortress.

I'd say hours of farming constitutes as rare. They are notorious for causing most to give up farming them due to their a) low spawn rate in the fortress, even when optimized, and b) the pathetic droprate on skulls in vanilla.

The last wither boss I farmed took about 8 hours of hardcore nether fortress farming all things said and done.

The wither itself is easy - just use regenerative potions and an enchanted weapon. If you have a pack that allows you to have nano/quantum armor that will work well too. Otherwise if you keep running around with a regeneration effect on you (even golden apple I could work) you won't die to the wither. The way I kill them is just to spawn them in, let them explode then run in with an enchanted sword and regen and click till it dies. You can also use splash healing potions or power/knockback bows if you want to make it easy, or use the tunnel method.

The only thing I'll give the wither is that it's harder than the ender dragon, but then even a ghast is harder than the ender dragon in all except durability loss.

No more OP than soul shards- giving you an insane spawn rate for any monster type under any condition that runs 24/7.[/quote]
Yeah, but you have to kill 500. Not so easy is it?

now that the portal gun requires a nether star, being able to move the block should be justified

I don't know why they think its overpowered..

Build a forestry Rubber Tree Farm and within about 4 hours you will have so much rubber that You will start to cry, and wish you had the portal gun method. LOL.

I agree with the forestry method trivializing rubber uses mid game onwards - but moving spawners is a little "cheesy". The most powerful mob spawners outside the end are always using spawner blocks, and because of that usually reserved for creative mode shenanigans before starting play in survival mode.
