I've got an nice outdoorsy cabin in the prairie that attracts lots of monsters at night. Thaumcraft golems with the Guard core are good are cleaning out the spiders and skeletons that try to hide under the eaves, but creepers remain a constant worry. Solutions I've thought of and don't particularly like:

Upgrade the golems with an Order core and allow them to attack creepers: Uh... no. The default behavior is for them to ignore creepers for a very good reason.

Keep a ring of cats: The meowing is goddamned annoying. The Muffler block helps, but I don't like having a bunch of sound-dead spots in my lawn.

Tigereyes: Much better. This works, but I'm planning on building a bigger base into the side of a mountain, and my concern is having creepers dropping down from above. The face of the cliff is jagged and complex, and I don't think Botania plants have enough vertical range to be practical here.

Dreadthorne: Similar to the Tigereye, but kills instead of repels. Sounds nice, but will have the same problems as the Tigereye when I build my cliff base. I'm also unsure if Dreadthornes will hurt my golems.

Buildcraft Knight Robots: I have zero experience with these, and documentation is severely lacking, but this might work? They can fly, and it looks like they equip weapons? Could I make some crazy OP weapon with Tinker's Construct that could one-shot creepers and give it to my robots? Would that work?

Extra Utilities Magnum Torch. Bury a few around your base if you don't want to see them. They suppress mob spawning (maybe just hostile, but I think all) within a decent sized radius.

What mod/pack?
Design some overhangs for the open air sections of your build- so base jumping creepers carry on down the mountain.
If the Dreadthorne/Tigereyes have a quick enough response you'll only need a few of them above the open air sections- rest of the cliff doesn't matter.
Also Rotarycraft as some very nice turrets that'll keep the monsters off your cliff face.

I like the Magnum Torch, but I want to try something different here. Part of the fun in building in a dangerous location is having to take precautions, and then getting the payoff of watching your countermeasures go to work. A ring of magnum Torches works, but it's a little to passive for what I want right now.

Arm your TC Golems with Dart Launchers, then add the Ordo Upgrade. You will want to make little stands for them (microblocks help here) so they don't close ground. Think of them like archers on a castle wall.

Edit: Make sure you have some Gather Golems outside to pick up the drops.

Immersive Engineering has powered Lanterns that are similar to Magnum torches, with half the radius. Hang a few of those high on the cliff face and it should stop creepers up there while leaving your other defenses to deal with less super powered mobs.
