56 blame inkscape for that one
(yes, I used inkscape to make it as I couldn't make normal images with gimp (with normal images I mean .png,.jpg and stuff like that))
58 yes, however for some reason the file name needs to end with.txt and selecting .txt from the possible files doesn't add that for you.
so...basically that list is just a way for you to see what extensions are possible.
58 it looks at the name you typed in to see as what extension it needs to safe, not at what you selected.
so if I select .png and name it lol.txt it will be a real txt file and not a .png with the .txt extension
57 I know that, but if go and rename the file to change the extension (you need to have the setting selected that lets you do that), it shouldn't have a problem changing file types
58 if I say to safe it as test.png and I select txt it will be a .png that can't be opened in an text editor even after I renamed the file to test.txt as it will be a real .png
Unless you mean open it in gimp and safe it differently but I doubt the image will stay exactly the same if you accidentally saved it as an .txt when you needed a .png version (if it even knows how to open it correctly)
57 but its not. If you edit the file extension after you save the picture as a .txt, and change it to .png or .jpg, the data is still there so it should still open.
58 no, it does not.
if you name it test.txt and select .png it thinks you wanted it to be an .txt file and saves it as if you selected .txt NOT as if you wanted it to be an .png file that is called .txt.
note how the name is HAHA.txt and I selected the JPEG format yet it uses the .txt steps after I clicked export.(I know because the box it gives only shows .txt .html and a few other thins.
and I am pretty sure this is not how JPEG file looks if you open it in an text editor
58 nope, gives an error.
Interesting enough the characters it uses to represent the same color is different if you select .html in the second box. I also discovered that my computer knows it needs to open .ps files with my text editor but shows an preview of the image in the file explorer.
(I exported the image to post script to see what would happen)
