Oh, hello there. Don't worry about the explosions; that's just thaumic infusion doing what is does. Perfectly normal.

*steps outside and moves a few of the paving stones aside to let Tord's char (Rose, right?) in*

*rigs a remote warded jar refilling station involving some magic mirrors and an essentia tube*

Oh, hello there. Don't worry about the explosions; that's just thaumic infusion doing what is does. Perfectly normal.

*crafts a belt of runic shielding, but with a shorter... belt... so it works as a collar*
*slots a couple of very short thaumium-capped amber rods into the collar next to the gemstone buckle thing to power it*

The way this works is, those amber rods are able to extract a very small amount of magical energy from the air. Amber just does that; a few other materials can as well (like those bound into my staff), but amber is convenient in applications like this because it isn't attuned to any particular flavor of energy. Anyhow, the energy flows into that yellow gemstone, which uses it to produce a sort of magical shield that, if you let it recharge long enough, *pokes Rose in the side with the end of my staff; it bounces off with a pulse of orangeish light; she only feels a slight bump because conservation of momentum* will deflect almost anything. However, doing so uses some energy, and neither the amber nor the gemstone itself can store very much. So just keep in mind that the shield isn't permanent, and enough damage dealt quickly enough will break through. But even so, it'll certainly protect you better than nothing.
