84 Are DireHouse's very space efficient?

83. Not so much space as light efficient I think. You only need a single torch on each of the 4 walls to light it up enough for mobs to not spawn, and you need no lights in the centre.

My friends are now really quite far ahead of me in most, if not all, of the mods in Horizons III, as well as having much more of a base, which makes me feel a bit deflated and sort of "what's the point".

Does anyone else get this? The sort of demotivation because you know you'll never "catch up", so you start to feel like just not bothering?

84 I understand the feeling. The other reason I do DireHouses is because they are so formulaic that I can make them with minimal effort.

85. I'm sorry but Dire 9x9s annoy me. I can watch people do a series in them, but I cannot live in them myself. I need space and 9x9s are tiny. I do large rooms even for a tiny little machine... it's kind of ridiculous. Also symmetry and perfectionism.

84. That is a point. I don’t know how much space I’m going to need! And I don’t know whether I’m going to incorporate my various Astral Sorcery gubbins into my base when I build it, or have them as separate entities entirely.

85 Magic tends to get big rooms, because it's space greedy. That and when I need a big room I just take two 7x7s and then dig out the blocks between them to make a 7x17.
