Alright, so this is definitely my first time asking about this, so forgive me if I give unnecessary details, or don't provide enough.

Anyways, I was looking around, and found some cool arguments that did increase my FPS, but they were more general things, so I'm curious if there are any better floating around?

Can't really think of anything else.

There are some people who have designed java arguments for FTB, but their arguments are either currently outdated or in the state of being updated. I believe @SatanicSanta has some arguments that might help you, but keep in mind whether or not any set of arguments works for you depends on many factors.

I use these for Java
Code:
-XX:-DisableExplicitGC -XX:-RelaxAccessControlCheck -XX:MaxPermSize=128M -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=30 -XX:+UseFastAccessorMethods -Xmn=2000M -Xmx=2000M

And I use these for modpacks. I used to use another set for my large modpack, but half of them are outdated and don't do any thing:
Code:
-XX:+UseLargePages -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:+UseFastAccessorMethods -XX:+OptimizeStringConcat -XX:+UseBiasedLocking -Xincgc -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=10 -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=10000 -XX:+CMSParallelRemarkEnabled -XX:ParallelGCThreads=10 -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

I use @SatanicSanta's arguments for a modpack I'm running with about 130 mods, and saw a jump of about 20 FPS with them. As always though, it may differ for you.

Thanks a ton. Using the arguments, and even though between the last time I started up and now, I added about fifteen pretty large mods, I'm still getting about twenty FPS more. Thanks again! :)

Perhaps a bit of all three. There is no reason for any of those arguments to have any effect on fps. They are as likely to screw someones system up as to improve their fps.

@SatanicSanta DOES use those arguments, so he'll be getting whatever you think will screw a system up.
Oh, @Padfoote, which set of arguments? I'm assuming that the modpack you're talking about is Ender Gap, but which set of args?
Never can have too much FPS.
EDIT: Yes, I just pinged two people, quoted one, and got the OP with just another post to the thread. Deal with it. :p

Forgive my ignorance, but how do I use these arguments? I could do with an FPS improvement.

The above set of arguments that Santa provided. I added them and got a nice jump of about 20 FPS. No issues other than an increase in FPS, if you call that an issue.

When I try those arguments my FPS jumps from 60fps, to 60fps.
I would like to know why they work for some people, but no one is providing any analysis.

They're added via the FTB launcher, in the advanced options tab or some such.

If nobody's answered your question properly by the time I get home tonight I'll try to give you a better answer (sadly, like, 7 hours from now)

Hmmm. Those arguments optimize the way Java uses and allocates memory. I am no expert, so all I've done is copy/pasta what I've found and adjusted the memory values for what I can afford to with my computer.

If they don't work, they don't work. If they do, they do. I use Optifine with a relatively long JVM argument list, adjusted for the RAM my computer has. I run at ~30 FPS on my super lagging Monster/AS world, and a constant 60 in my BnB.

You shouldn't need anything past 60 FPS imo.
